I think its an offensive version of defensive. I'd bet its an agility check comparable to how we do hypno gazes right now and if you succeed it turns off the assist from the opposing player.
Defensive did almost nothing for the teams that got it as primaries. It only helped bash teams that saved for secondaries. Giving agility a way to offensively deal with guard blobs is a big buff |

It prevents a player from providing an assist. Nothing to do with guard specifically. This is potentially a really good skill. Depends if it requires a roll or not... |

I find interesting how they call Steady Footing a Skill instead of a Trait.
If defensive is getting reworked into this new "gouged eye" thing (which sounds like a strenght skill tbh), steady footing could be replacing it in the agility tree. |

Officus Ref is no longer a kickoff event
Dodgy Snack is a status token, generated by a kickoff event
So presumably its a replacment / rework
Looking at the icon, it's like skull and crossbones but with a soup ladle or cooking tools as the bones? so themed around food poisoning
My guess is, Dodgy Snack is basically exactly the same as the Ref event, you get stunned, and if you then fail the 2+ roll, you no longer get Sent Off, and instead are stunned for two turns - double stun for being sick |

Defensive and gouged eye sound like different skills to me |

could be... Or how about it's a temporary Bone head for the dive, representing feeling sick... |

Secure the ball is an action that will help AG 4 guys who struggle for spps to start a drive carrying the ball, ya? Blood seekers, golems, Ulfs, black orks, and more.
I like it, though, I don’t know if they must be in the ground to secure it and other details. |

A +1 to pick up would have been ok, 2+ is too much. |

Why?
You can't move after picking up. Which could leave you in a dangerous position.. ag3+ sure hands is better...
Also we know big guys can't use it... there may be other restrictions |

The pick up is an action that is often performed at the very end of a turn.
Ending the turn and the movement is not a big deal, unless you are pressured to score. If I received and had 8 turns to score, I'd happily use Secure the ball with a Bull Centaur or even a Tomb King Thrower (thinking of risky pick up with the ball adjacent to boundary line).
AG 3+ Sure Hands is better only if you can't use a rr for the Secure the ball action, and you need to have Sure Hands, which is not a default skill on many AG 3+ players, let alone on AG 4+ or AG 5+ ones.
About the dangerous position: you can screen the player before the pick up attempt and, since the requirement is having no opponent within 2 squares, it's likely you can screen/cage them before they try the Secure the ball action.
With Pouring Rain it makes a big difference too. It's better to Secure the ball than trying to pick it up with AG 4+ Sure Hands. 3+ is better than 5+ with Sure Hands.
With the +1 modifier the difference would have been smaller. |

As a Rasetra player (Saurus Throw-Ra S4 Ag1 ball handler at the time aka handicaped Khemris) I wait and see about all the interactions of Secure the ball / Sure Hands / Pouring Rain etc etc.
Anyway, as always, it's Blood Bowl.
Just roll a 6 "et voilà" one ball picked up under any circonstances |

The point about the ball being in a risky location was a reference to possibly leaving the player in a surfable possible... that's all.
As for the other stuff you said. I'm not really sure what your point is.. We don't know what the other restrictions are for this action yet, it might only be allowed to be performed by Throwers or Runners, or it might only be possible when the ball is in your half, it might not be possible by st4+ players... I think you should probably wait to see what the rule is first... |

You don't know the restrictions either, so I could be right. I commented the skill according to the limited informations we have about it, but I may change my mind with more details.
My point is that a flat 2+ pick up no matter the AG of the player is too good (because clumsy players are supposed to struggle with pick ups, otherwise bash and hybrid teams could get too good) and a +1 modifier to pick up would have been less drastical and more balanced.
If many players can pick up the ball on a 2+ the AG stat gets less meaningful to differentiate them.
It makes harder to play an aggressive defence vs the bash team as well (for example, currently you can kick deep vs Tomb Kings as Elves, hoping for them to fail the pick up before they can cage the ball carrier, with a 2+ pick up that strategy gets less effective). |

I *really* doubt they'll let ST4 players do that pickup. Or I should say I *really* hope they aren't going to be able to.
Imagine running humans at 1000TV and it is virtually guaranteed that the chorf or lizard player is going to have their ST4 player carrying the ball. Even in orcs, I suspect Big'uns to be ball carriers pretty often.
Yuck.
My guesses;
Eye gouge: agility skill similar to how hypno gaze is right now; result: player cannot provide assists this turn; eye poker can continue to move after an eye poke (like a blitz). Replaces defensive. I suspect defensive moves somewhere else in the skill tree.
Dodgy Snack: Gives the player a negatrait that they have to roll a 4+ to act each turn.
Sure Footing: General Skill replacing shadowing (shadowing moved to agility to take the place of Safe Pair of Hands). When a player would be "knocked down" they roll a d6, on a 6 they ignore being knocked down. Wrestle (place prone) would still work and I suspect Juggernaut would negate this
Brawler: I suspect players with Brawler will be able to ignore the "placed prone" effect of wrestle as a buff to brawler. Especially given the box set they revealed. |
