I'm an academic and gamer, playing, among other games, Warhammer Fantasy Role Play 1e/2e, Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer 40,000, and, of course, Blood Bowl. I'm not a particularly good player - check out my win-loss ratio.
***FOULS AND STALLING***
I WILL foul, where tactically or thematically (Goblins!) appropriate. I wouldn't think worse of you if you foul me in return, or even get your fouling in first - I've had a Chaos team leave me with 2 players on the pitch. I WILL rarely stall - in fact I never do. This isn't because I think it is cheating, but because I never have the confidence that I've worked out that it is safe to do so. However, if a team stalls against me - rolling a cage a square from the endzone and putting the handbrake on - then I will think nothing of fouling any exposed players in the backfield. That is *not* a gratuitous foul, it is a foul with a purpose. It says "cross the line and kick the ball to me, because I will do my best to make watching the clock tick down an expensive tactic."
In the end, it is all Blood Bowl!
