Heya folks, in the spirit of widening contacts between the respective bloodbowl communities (lies, there only is one, and it's all bloodbowl), and with the possibility of filling some gaps in people's weekends with something to watch, I bring you some news of the blitz pit 5 competition that will kick off this weekend.


What is blitz pit?

BP is an invite-only double elimination tournament with a twist (2 losses and you are out)
Overtime format is used
Turn timer is set to 1 minute turns (bb2 timers on blocks etc can stretch this out)
The tournament is resurrection format with teambuilding rules
No inducements may be used apart from the one you have rostered
The grand final is a best of 1. There is no second chance for the finalist who comes through the winners bracket, however the winner of the upper bracket will decide whether to kick or receive in the first half of the grand final but will not decide the OT coin toss.

Times:
BP5 will occur over the 4th-5th of April with games starting at 1800 UTC on Saturday (4th) with 2-3 games, 2 sessions of play on Sunday 5th) with 1-2 games starting at 1300UTC and the second session of play at 1800UTC of 1-3 games. All games are cast live on twitch if possible!

Rules package:

All stadium enhancements are banned

Teams are built to at least 1100 tv and no higher than 1250 tv worth of players, star players, rerolls, apothecary, fan factor, assistant coaches, cheerleaders, bribes and halfling master chefs. No other inducements are allowed.
Teams may purchase 1-2 star players using your starting 1100-1250 tv but before you purchase them you must first include at least 11 regular rostered players as if your opponent hires the same star player as you the star will not play for either team in that game.

Tier 1: 1340tv Tier 2: 1370tv Tier 3: 1390 Tier 4: 1410tv Tier 5: 1440tv
Tier 1 teams: Undead, Wood Elves
Tier 2 teams: Amazons, Brettonians, Chaos Dwarves, Dark Elves, Dwarves, Lizardmen, Necro
Tier 3 teams: Humans, Norse, Orcs, Skaven
Tier 4 teams: Chaos, Elven Union, High Elves, Khemri, Nurgle
Tier 5 teams: Goblins, Halflings, Kislev, Ogres, Underworld, Vampires

Tiers 1+2 have a maximum of 2 leveled skills per player, Tiers 3+4+5 have a maximum of 3 leveled skills per player.
A maximum of 1 double skill may go on a player (you may take 1 double and 1 or 2 normals on a player, just not 2 doubles).
Tier 1 has a maximum of 1 double skill on the team, Tiers 2+3 have a maximum of 2 doubles skills on the team. Tiers 4+5 have a maximum of 3 doubles skills on the team.
No Statistic upgrades may be selected


Prizes (aka glorious cash moneyz!):

The $250 (USD) prize pool is split as follows

1st - $125
2nd - $65
3rd - $40
4th - $20
5th-16th - $0

Regular FUMBBLers may recognise: Dionysian, OlivierDulac, PC, Seanyy, and Kolianxxxxxx, AndyDavo should be known to plenty more, and the rest of the lineup is made up of players who have performed exceptionally in BB2 ccl over the years - including some who have multiple wins of the overall competition (Velihopea, Crucifer, Pupok).
This is a strong competition and should provide interesting (and entertaining) viewing as players compete with the added adversity of the time limit and multiple high intensity games in a short period of time.
