Best 2013 Stunty Coaches and the State of Stunty
[DISCLAMER: this is about Stunty. If you don't care about Stunty just don't waste your time reading]

Well well, 2013 is almost over (thank God), and I think I am the right person to speak about Stunty and try to trace an overview about this great Leeg. First of all: the coaches. In one year I met any kind of guys: great coaches that taught me how to play, whiners, funny chatters, one hit wonders who came to be the next big thing and disappeared, nice fellas, coaches from other divisions who wanted to try Stunty. I want to remember them here, but this will not be related to won tournaments or winning rate, this is about the hours of play they gave to Stunty, the struggles they faced to develop teams and how well they dealt with the unavoidable tragedies that can destroy your team in a single match. I sadly have to say that in last year most of them disappeared. I think they deserve to be remembered, too.

Best Active Stunty Coaches

xnoelx: he always plays anyone, regardless of teams TV, race, MNG players, he never looks for the easy match and never complains. Perfect example of Stunty coach and maybe best Horrors coach around.

harvestmouse: one of the first guys i met in Stunty, he gave me many tips. Very good with Pygmys, he doesn't like violent teams and prefers a tactic game. He is not playing many games these days, but he is one of the best anyway.

TheSyron: he has a lot of great teams and he's one of the most nice guys I met, great sportmanship and always take a loss like a man. Sadly he announced he is gonna put BB aside for a couple of months, but I look forward for his comeback. We still have to play that rematch between my Strigs and his Gnomes.

baelnic: he contributed to increase the number of Stunty games played with his idea of S.P.L.A.T., and he has a great number of good teams. Only looking at the effort he puts in checking all the S.P.L.A.T. games and record the points makes him worthy of a mention of honor.

strider84: this guy came from the normal division and won the Exploding Cup. He plays very good and joins all the majors. Glad to have played him in his first Stunty game.

Whatball: well, without him we wouldn't have Stunty Leeg, I think that's enough.

Panchit0: best Spanish in Stunty. Good sport and great teams. One of the best Albion Fae coaches.

luckyjim12: another example of good sport and passion, nice guy and good with Cheaters.

Jesperius: was here when I joined, still here today. Fair coach, nice guy, haven't beaten him in a year.

other notable coaches who played a lot this year: Moses, Azure, Muktar, m0gw41, ahalfling, Sigmar1, Immeli, NoeLDeBenedict, Ryld (and others i can't remember right now)

Disappeared Coaches

Kalamona (last seen 17 weeks ago): he was the legend, now he's gone. He played everyone and won a lot of tournaments, always had some funny joke to say. Hospital can't be beaten, but Never Bite on The First Date will keep its memory alive.

Motskari (last seen 7 weeks ago): nice, skilled coach, had a lot of laughs with him. One day his Cheaters team was destroyed and he retired all his teams, just left 3 of them. Haven't seen him since then, but I think one day he'll come back.

Kharnete (last seen 6 weeks ago): S.P.L.A.T.inaugural season winner. I looked forward on him for great things.

Sexton (last seen 6 weeks ago): nice guy, he was very enthusiastic about the new Halfling Pros.

Nekosama (active): he is still here, but he left Stunty. One of the first guys I played. Meow to you, man, think about coming back!

Cameronhawkins (active): sometimes he still plays Stunty, but when I came here he was one of the best and most active. He got bored, probably.

member1234 (last seen 17 weeks ago): a good friend, now gone.

Now, a brief overview about the state of Stunty

Is not going so well, IMO. Few new coaches joined, too many veterans quit. Some of the new guys I met have the right mentality for Stunty, others complain about "Stunty being all about dices" or things like that. What concerns me is the number of S.P.L.A.T. season 2 coaches and games played. Only 31 coaches joined S.P.L.A.T. season 2 so far, and in the first week only 18 of them played at least a game. I really hope this will increase, S.P.L.A.T. is a good thermometer to measure the healt of Stunty and looks like it has a bit of flu right now. Remember you can join S.P.L.A.T. anytime, and you can win it even if you join late.

That's enough for now. Maybe I'll get a part-time job tomorrow and won't be as present as in the last weeks, but I'll alaways look for games anytime I can.

See you on the pitch. May Nuffle be kind with all your players.

S.P.L.A.T. ftw! ^^
7 matches so far, but have'nt been able to get games lately.

I enjoyed the EC. Thereafter, Stunty has followed the following cycle for me.

Lfg .
Games around are against much bigger boys.
Oh hell, it's Stunty. Go have fun.
Team smashed by bigger boys.
Retire newish team instead of retool.
Start again.

I admit, I've not tried lots and lots, but there again I play rarely full stop.

I've no ideas for breaking the above cycle, but it's why I don't feel into Stunty.

Aww, shucks, you say the sweetest things. Just don't think that means I'll go easy on you...

But yeah, good summary, I'd have to agree with pretty much everything you said (except that bit about me being best with Horrors). S.P.L.A.T. has been great, and I'm hoping we get the Necromiser soon, that should give us a big bump in games.

Also, good luck for the job...

I will always be thankful to you for advising me to go with Fae, and now I have three bad-ass fen Beasts. Stunty and SPLAT rule FUMBBL.

Oh, and Pgoo; it can take a bit more persistence to find S games, especially for a rookie team that doesn't want to get smashed. 2 possible solutions: don't be a quitter, grit your teeth and bear on. That's how I usually go, but it does lead to teams with terrible starting records.

Alternatively, look out for any of the S regulars, or ask in #fumbblstunty, I'm sure there's a fair few of us who'd be happy to give you a more even match. My lowest team at the mo is a 1200 Strig team with very little to them, so if you want a softer game for a new team, they're available.

I just started so occasionally looking for low TV games. the inducements are good for stunty tho so ain't too bad being underdog

no idea how people build teams to like 1800 when my guys have been splattered so quick
Posted by Beerox on 2013-11-05 19:10:31
I've been playing a lot more stunty.

There are some fundamental problems I have with the leeg which sent me packing for a while, but I have manned up a bit and been able to find some fun matches lately.

Where is the suggestion box? Maybe we need one, so we can find out why people have disappeared.

I would like to add an honourable mention to my old chum Melchiorx, who ran the first Exploding Cupp on here in 2006. Though she never played much Stunty other than that. She hasn't played for about 7 years now, but she's still got a ST4 gutter runner on one of her FUMBBL teams somewhere which I will happily adopt!
