I love the books & the tv series.
I'd suggest you tweak your system.
I think your current system favors benching the king. The retirement of one of the two replacements, and the loss of reroll may be a bit too draconian.
If you get the rules a bit more reasonable though, I'd certainly play. Valar morghulis! (For non-Ice & Fire nerds: All men must die.)

You could go with the old no mens can retire rule - only way out is death on the pitch... certainly for your king this seems fun
Other than this I agree with Bill on this being a bit too draconian with the the loss of one of your top players on top of already having lost your king sounding like a brutal beatdown...
But you could have slightly different fluff inspired punishments for each team type depending on who they represent - House Stark, if represented, could perhaps be forced to start the following match with the old all mens on the front line in an attempt at revenge

You could simply rank and reward the kings by their achievements on the pitch. No place for bench-warmers in the Game of Thrones!

I like rabes idea. The team gains points for winning and drawing games as usual, but also gains points when the king accomplishes things. One point per score, cas, int and executions (injuries by foul and crowd surfing-This is WESTEROS!*kick into crowd*). When the king dies, the team looses any points that the king has collected and has to start over again with a new king.

Again - if a dead king means you lose even more than a player this will provoke the developement of specialized players that hunt the kings down. Don't know it this is so much fun...
A good idea would be to add to the score for win/draw/loss the SPP of your king. If the king dies, you have to apoint a rookie with 0SPP as your new king. This makes it harder to gain SPP as the player is less skilled. You should think about the points a team gets for win/draw/loss as 4/2/1 seems to be a bit wee in comparison to the 5 points you get if your king was rewarded MVP.

I don't agree with retiring a player. Not so sure about losing the RR either as the king is going to be one of your best players.
I'd say that for brand new teams the king (or queen) should be a positional not a 0-16 lino.
SPP value for killing the king is too much unless result scoring is high e.g. 20/10/5.
Better I think would be a fixed bounty e.g. 5 points. Maybe +1 for each rank (rookie, experienced, etc) the king has gained.
If it is all about killing heavy bash seems to be the way forward. ;)
