FUMBBL
FUMBBL definitely eats its young. Young coaches play against dirty coaches and leave. Good on ya!

Yeah, try ranked.

There are some worthless idiots who game blackbox and prey on rookie teams/coaches. It's sad that there are people who behave like that but anywhere something can be exploited, you'll find somebody utilizing that exploit - it's a sad fact of life.

So play games in a setting where you can rule out really unfair games; ranked.

Yup he is one of a small number of coaches which is why I don't like blackbox at all.

Lammer Heretics is another one.

(To be fair, Lammer heretics is a totally different problem. I just can't stand the match reports, nor the attitude that goes with them.)

Pfft. Lammer. Why you racist-hate Polish mens?

Honestly, a lot of gaming sites eat their young. Fumbbl isn't one of them. You get helped out and people are forthcoming as long as you don't piss them off. And even then their tolerance is rather high. You even get away with rules violations with just a slap on your finger when you are new. If anything the fact that you can enter a competative division and get competative games is a sign of respect. If you don't like competition, stay away from the competition and stick to League or pick the games in Ranked you are capable to win.

Three clawpombers v a rookie team could hardly be classed as 'competition' though Wreckage. Having said that, I agreed with the rest of what you said.

Some points, and I'll add it to both blogs.

1. FUMBBL's official standpoint is that blackbox is this is not a division for new players. The first line in the help section states 'A division of random fair matches where you play what you get. It is a highly competitive division that is not for the faint of heart.' if you listened to the blackbox crowd and played there, you made your own bed.
2. Show me an online gaming site where you don't overly competitive (insert bad word) who don't try to game the system. There isn't one.
3. Yes coaches like this are a problem. The problem is with how the rules handle perpetual leagues (not very well). FUMBBL did not and has not invented the rules, and without just cause (as it opens a nasty door) does not want to add house rules (that don't affect only gaming only). Personally if I had the choice, I'd just remove them from the site, but they aren't breaking rules so......
4. You have a good thing going in 145 club, and blackbox on the whole hasn't been bad too you. At this stage, you should be able to weigh up what is good and what is bad about the site and make your own decisions on where and how to play to enjoy the game.
5. If you don't like something vote with your feet. Christer listens to stats. However blackbox remains popular compared to ranked or league. So generally this means the division is healthy.

Conclusion; I appreciate your frustration, it frustrates me as much or more, especially when it costs the site coaches. But blogging that it's the site's fault for one bad match, is shedding the blame somewhat. If you heeded the help sections advice, you'd have stayed away from the division.

It's a Box problem.
It is unfortunately the price to pay for not having to bother to find "fair" game in R.
Not perfect but i have accepted it and only play Box.
I would say about 1/12 games are against such team or minmax zons.
When it happens to me i just don't say a word in chat, play the game and let it go.

There are ups and downs with BB. Ranked has just as many problems with box. 145 club is the way to go for new coaches. When I started many moons ago I took on all comers in Ranked. I find the Cherry picking is very difficult to deal with. Yes you can who you like, but not always you can find games with teams you have. I still have my original team of Ranked Orcs, and I never get games with them. I enter them in smacks and tournaments all the time just to get games. They aren't a great team, I just enjoy using them.

Box is ruined by specific coaches who care about CR and winning more than having fun. It's the same guys who find torturing puppy's amusing. Unfortunately it would be a full time job to hunt these heretics down. I still enjoy box because of the style of bash playing I enjoy. Full loads of teams in here like to bang. I actually hate getting games vs Newbies because of the lack of challenge. I always refer them to thr 145 Club. Rarely they go. They keep at it and then get depressed at their non success, then write a blog or game report and leave. There is nothing any of us can do. Maybe changing Box to TW instead of TV. That would fix some of the Max'ers.
