I was just breezing through the blogs since I started off typing my thoughts just this week and stumbled upon STIKKI's blog.
He's a natural Woodelf player, just like I myself am when playing on a board, who tries out orcs at the moment.
To that I can only say : " Welcome to the club!"
I started off my Orc team about a week ago, and do have to admit, that I chose an Undead Team before.
Here is my reason why I did so:
I've played Woodelves as my very first team, and they had 1 match after which i had to retire the team. couldn't afford me a substitute, got 5 mng and 2 dead.
So I thought... well, lets try something more blockig, and chose Chaos... well they are still there, but quite battered up, without cash and a long list of lost games.
Soooo...
I searched on for something else that would suit my style of game more, and settled with norse.
Cheap Linemen, everybody's got block.
Yep, and they die like flies. had 2 consecutive games where I had 3 guys killed, and a total of 4 remaining nigglings.
Yep, I do understand that for some guys, it is important to have only their men left standing on the pitch and roll home a 1:0 after a completely stalled game, fouling when possible, and celebrating the mixture of luck and force.
Not for me.
Now the Norse teams I played are still active... one has a FF of 1 due to too many games with not enough players left on the field, and the other one is left with 4 nigglers (if I didn't retire one of them, yesterday, too lazy to check).
I thought: "Well, ok. Too expensive, for AV7 and even with an ogre no matchup against the average Khemri - Team."
Then I overcame my despise and chose Undeads, which till today make me actually very proud.
I play 'em like I think Stikki would too, as a fast scoring team. (had my couples of 2 turners!) They are damn cheap to replace, and please feel free to admire my BLOCK/DODGING Mummy!
But somehow, people tend rather not to play against undeads, with mummies who do have skills, like block, guard, tackle, +ST, stand firm, dodge, you know.
This brings me back to my Orc team. (DaaaaaaStomP!)
I started off with them because I went from the idea "money for new lineman" to "cheap green 9AV could save the day".
It didn't do so when I played Chaos as a Chaos Warrior is NOT cheap, but these ors are radical!
In 5 games I did only have 1 SI/MNG.
Ok he "earned" himself a -1AV", but thats NOTHING compared to what I have endured before.
Even with the undeads, my list of "got killed" star playing ghouls is very very very long.
And I was somewhat used to having 8 or less players on the field in mid game even with the Chaos team.
Not so Orcs.
They may have a problem pickin up da ball.
They may have a problem t'rowin da ball.
They may have a problem keepin da ball.
But hell yes, they are gonna stay on da pitch as long as it takes.
I am completely conform with STIKKI.
Those fellas can be loosing as many games they play, they are so endureable, I even was able to fill up my roster to 15 players. so 4 NEW players in 5 games. To be exact: 4 Black Orc Blockers in 5 games....
Salery is in!
I made an average of 80K Gold a game. Haven't been winning a single 1 of em, still having a FF of 10!
Man these guys rock!
On the other hand, we will see if anyone wants to play...
If I were Elf, I wouldn't be wanting to play 1 troll, 4 Black Orcs, 4 Blitzers.... You know what I mean?!?
(whereas, yep I play almost anyone willing to... propably that's why I seem to never win, hmm...)
Additionally, and to bring it down to the Subject of the blog entry:
I read STIKKI's entries, and found my attitude reflected.
I KNOW there are others, that feel exactly the same towards the game. Feel free to check my profile entries, or the Bio of "Wrath of the HornedSquirrel" - my undead team. Leave me a message if you like.
I even had one guy I played against, who DID NOT push a player into the crowd on turn 16. He felt that would be unnecessary as hell propably killin off a player in the last round of an already won game.
It would have been the same if I would have been in the lead 2:0 against him.
Sadly, you cannot distinct between coaches, except with puttin him on a blackboard.
So here the Idea behind that:
Would it be possible for every coach, who is thinkin' the same or feels the same attitude towards playing (not breaking) another team, to get together, organize, or simply put a destinctive sign in the profile?
What do you think?
