THE WORST COACH EVER
I have just become the worst coach ever to play on FUMBBL. Coach Rating 125.48

So what is it i'm doing so wrong?

Advice anyone?

And can i get a refund?

Try the TAOCH! guide for several bloodbowl wisdoms and hints.
Always expect the worst.
Try doing a few move actions to cover from a possible turnover.
Plan ahead and expect pushbacks as best result from blocks/blitzes.
Well i couldn't find the link so maybe someone links it, it's hidden somewhere in the help/faq area.

There is atleast one with 110+... Just don't remember the name...

That takes skill... You're just an amateur compared to him/her...

:P

It looks like your 2 current Ranked teams are lizards and chaos. You might want to try a more user-friendly race until you get you feet under you. Pick up a better ball handling race like skaven or any of the elves, or a solid all-around team like orcs.

Lizardmen and chaos start with no skills at all (ok, no Block is the big one), and are mediocre with the ball. Both teams need to win with a little extra effort until their players are skilled up, which if you're considering yourself the worst coach ever, may not be the path to recovery.

Best way to learn is by watching better coaches. Spectate as many games with CR170+ coaches as you can, and if possible, watch some tournament games. Pay especial attention to people using the races you play, and see what they're doing differently.

Great job! It can only go upwards from here ;)

Try managing the ball, guarding it like a crazy hobbit guards an invisibility ring. Then only then start scoreing. Oh and dont forget to foul and cherry pick opponents, it helps ;)

How were you guys able to find Blockbuster? when I look at the list of CR I don't seem to be able to find anyone below diadochoi.

Grats on the getting that low, from now on it can only go up. :)

Try whining.

It doesn't work, but it makes you feel better. :)

Well.. depends on the times you are usually on... but if you like, PM me on IRC and I`ll spec a game of yours if I have time and give live tips.

My best advice is to spectate games... all the time. Look up all the good coaches, add them to buddylist and check thier games. You learn alot.

Assume you will fail rolls. e.g. in your last game, after they scored you were on offense, and moved everyone forward leaving a lone skink, assuming he'd get the ball. When he failed, you were in trouble....

If you'd either moved a few guys back to cover first a failed pickup wouldn't have hurt so much. Likewise, next turn you started by bashing, then got skulled, despite having several palyers free who could move back to cover the gap without making any rolls at all. If you assume the worst you're more likely to avoid it.... never presume even a 3DB is safe! (I know, everyone is guilty now and then, just try & avoid it...)

He's better than his rating. Just played him and he gave me a hell of a time.

Lots of good advice already. I'll add...

Play in the 145 League. The coaches there are relatively new and are often trying out teams they don't know how to use very well yet. I don't think this will affect your CR but it will help level the playing field for you a bit. You will learn from these games and will grow more experienced with the teams you play.

When I joined 145 I was around CR133 or something. I have been steadily climbing ever since.

Join the 145 League is your advice?

I WON THE 145 ROOKIE CUP!!!!!!!

I still have the lowest coach rating of any active player on this site.

Asharak. Thats the best advice I've had, coupled with an actual example of a mistake i made on the field. I appreciate the time and effort you put into helping me there. That was beyond the call of duty. And it was relevant. It was more than I asked for but just what i needed.

Thank you. I will try my hardest.

Never seen you in a mini-league...
And I could have repeated what the others have said.

Advice like ahsarak's is ALL OVER the stickies in TACTICS and STRATEGY Forum. READ THEM. Apply them. Sometimes after having read them you won't get it until you see yourself make that mistake in game.

You obviously CARE about getting better... do your homework and you will.

Very basic stuff, but always do your safe moves first. Safe = no dice rolled. Don't obsess with getting the ball on any turn in which you do not have it. Cage breaking can take several turns and that is not a bad thing. Make all of your two die blocks before making single if possible. AND, whatever else you are doing, do something different. :)
