I hope Haye watched the Mackin fight at the weekend. If he did, he'll know he'll never get a decision in Germany playing the same game he won the title with against Valuev, even if he wins on many scorecards, he'll lose in the building. He has to go for it, and I think Klitchko is too canny to get done by a bull rush. Haye needs the one big shot smack on target, or I fear, it'll be a failure. I don't actually think it'll be a great fight (I see Haye being bloody minded and playing keep away anyway), and it's a sad state of affairs the heavyweight division finds itself in that this is the best on the table for either man. Haye is too small to be a genuine World Class Heavyweight in any other era, and we'll never know how good the Klitchkos could have been with more competition. I'd obviously love a Brit win, it's just long odds if you ask me.

Crunch is in the middle of nowhere Calcium, so seeing the fight will be next to impossible. Perhaps someone will bring a radio, 5L's boxing commentary is generally fine, Bunce is a legend. We can huddle around the wireless.

Wow, cool to see so many people interested in this fight. I should let you guys know I'm writing about Boxing for Fox Sports here in the states now. I'll be doing a piece later in the week about the Haye's potential appeal to American fans (who have been jaded on the heavyweight division basically since Holyfield and Tyson were in their primes) should he beat Wlad. I'll post it when I finish.

I think the American public are right to be jaded with heavyweights. The strength in depth is no existent (only in the UK would the public have believed Harrision had any more than a puncher‘s chance in Haye‘s last outing, but the press was full of it being a real fight), the title is diluted by numerous belts, and the big two are hardly what you’d call personalities. You and I have chatted boxing a fair bit before; if only Froch got the same press this fight will get. ;)

Froch has really shown his class in this tournament huh goo? I've been converted to a fan of his. I think he's in a bit of trouble against Andre Ward in the final though.

My biggest problem with Froch is his lack of defense. Yes, his chin is made of pure granite, but Johnson caught him loads with the overhand right, and most if not all other fighters would have dropped. Froch himself admits it's his developed style now, and there's little that can be done about it. I think Ward might be a bit much for Froch, but I really hope I'm wrong!

as for Haye's behaviour leading up to the fight? Pure publicity I think! He's alone put loads of bums on seats so to speak. Everyone loves a bit of needle leading to a big fight!

I too think Ward may well be an issue. But Froch has been criminally under appreciated thus far. He's a better fighter than Haye, anyway.

As with the below, someone has to sell heavyweight boxing. Haye isn't subtle, but if he can sell a Fraudly fight, he's clearly doing something right.
