Final of FUMBBL Cup V LLT Qualifier I.

Things didn't start off too well for Buffy Episodes with both our niggling BOBs missing the game and both Malthor's nigglers making it in. The handicaps could also have been better, no virus in particular meant that Malthor's ST 5 wardancer made it into the game.

The woodies started in offense, but a pitch invasion which took down only 2 of my players (both stars, Varag and Morg) and 5 of his including the ST 5 wardancer made things difficult for them. An unlucky first turn allowed New Moon Rising to steal the ball, but Doppelgangland rolled snake eyes on his GFI to blitz, so the planned foul on the wardancer never happened.

Malthor then used his wizard with good results, badly hurting my ST 5 BOB and stunning my troll. He easily blitzed New Moon Rising but the ball scattered to his ST 5 wardancer. On my next turn, I managed to get a 1 die block on him (rerolled) but couldn't get him down. Malthor then had an easy task to stall and foul my players, but he finally decided to score on turn 6, leaving me three turns for an equalizer.

Quick snap and a lucky scatter followed by a catch gave the ball to my thrower, who was caged behind the LOS. I ran three blitzers to scoring distance on the 7th turn, but Malthor marked my AG 4 blitzer with three players, and the other two both had a diving tackler next to them. I decided to zap a marking catcher with a lightning bolt and then blitz the remaining ST 5 wardancer. Luckily, I got the pow I needed and managed to equalize at half time.

The second half started nicely for me with Varag causing a casualty and a KO, an elf lino KO'ing himself on a one die block and Doppelgangland badly hurting another. With the tree staying down for most of the half and the elves losing players, the orcs had an easy time advancing down the field and waiting for the final turn. Except that on the elves' 7th turn the ST 5 wardancer leaped into the cage, got double pows on a -2d blitz on Morg and knocked the ball loose. Luckily, the remaining elf lino failed a 2+ dodge and never managed to get the ball safe. On my last turn, a 3+ pick up (sure hands) followed by a 2+ catch (RR needed) was enough for New Moon Rising to score the winning touchdown.

Malthor tried to OTS on his last turn, but miscalculated assists meant that he only got one dice on my troll, who fell down.

--

Thanks for the good game Malthor! I'd say the dice were fairly even until I started to get your players off the pitch early in the second half. In any case, this was a great way to celebrate the 100th game for Buffy Episodes.
