#7 Goliath – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#7 Goliath – Smashed Knee (NI)
The kick-off result of the first drive didn't predict any good. The opposition got the ref! However, after having collectively ko'd the opposing line scrimmage on turn 1, things didn't look too bad. Add to that an early badly hurt of their tackle/mighty blow blitzer and things couldn't go wrong anymore. Could they? And yet they did. Due to very bad play from my side, I wasn't even able to score, although heavily outnumbering my adversary. He tried to compensate that by making use of his dirty player and the get-the-ref result and ripped my one turner (thanks apoth for saving her). Lost a block lino a few turns later though. All in all terrible play from my side and a first half soon to forget.

But Nuffle seems to love me and cursed the opposing thrower's sure hands, making him to drop the ball on a failed pick-up. Being wood elves after all, the Guardians immediately punished that mistake, blitzed the thrower ko and secured the ball for a 1-0 score the next turn. Nuffle kept blessing the Silver Guardians with a Blitz! result on the subsequent kick-off. Once again the ball was stolen, but due subefficient positioning the ball was kicked loose by the elves the next turn. Nobody remained to pick it up though. A chainpush from my side resulted in the ball bouncing to a more accessible location and luckily my wardancer didn't let me down. He leaped in (3+), picked up the ball (3+), jumped out (2+) and scored after 2 succesful gfi's (2+, 2+). All without having to use a single reroll.

The guardians weren't able to stop the opposition from scoring the 2-1 and when subsequently receiving it looked like a draw was in the make once my treeman knocked himself down (2nd time in the game), leaving the ball half open and close the line of scrimmage. The opposition stole the ball, but I was able to steal it back next turn on a somewhat lucky blitz (2d with a tackler, but had to make a dodge and 2 gfi's and had to use a reroll already on the dodge) and stall the game out.

Nuffle's blessings and a good portion of luck secured the victory here, but hey, that's all part of the game! Thanks for a good match though!
