“After what proved to be one of the bloodier games in the history of the Silver Guardians, the team was left with 9 players. This Pyrhic victory has cost blood, sweat and tears. Especially blood. And lots of it. It all began with a failing apoth hopelessly trying to cure a niggling injury imposed on wardancer Andariel. A few turns later Ironbark, the team's promising young treeman, was gangfouled to death after having played only three games for the Guardians. And yet Nuffle's endless thirst for blood wasn't satisfied. Deep in the second half, Dorian's life was suddenly and violently put to an end. 300k damage, a sour drink to swallow.

This being said, the game itself was a perfect illustration of wood elf efficiency on the pitch. Upon receiving in the first half, the Ravens All-Stars' coach forgot about the passblock skill of Aery, resulting in an inaccurate pass and a dropped ball. The 0-1 lead would be a fact soon. Determined to avoid a repeat of that mistake, the Ravens All-Stars, with three strength 4 players amongst them, decided to cage the ball and run it over. Young Ironbark however, decided otherwise and bravely jumped in to stick next to the ballcarrier. Consequently some pushing, hitting and dodging was involved, but in the end the opposing ballcarrier just run away from the tree. Not satisfied with the result, youn Ironbark decided to blitz the cage, putting his impressive stature once more next to the ball. This time with effect. Due to unlucky snake eyes on the dodge, the ball popped free out of the hands of the ballcarrier, soon to be evacuated by the Silver Guardians. Brave Ironbark however paid for his bravery with death. The consequent 0-2 lead at halftime was a minor solace only.

The Guardians received the kick in the second half, and decided to score quickly, hoping that a 0-3 lead would prove sufficient for the win. One-turner Dolwen did the job and the game was played. The All-Stars didn't have time to loose and hastened to score the 1-3. Dolwen repeated her trick once more (in two or even three turns this time) for the 1-4 lead. Somewhere around this point poor Dorian died. A blodge sidestep lino, about as good as a lino can get. In the remaining two turns the All-Stars managed to soften the score to the 2-4 end score. The Silver Guardians lost their interest in preventing the score (the game was won long ago at this point), focusing on preventing more injuries to the team instead.

All in all an entertaining game, but with an extremely heavy toll to pay. Like Tekoda mentioned, these kind of disasters happen to skaven and wood elves every so many games. But every time it is difficult to recover and a long path to go... firing the star catchers in a 9-player squad doesn't seem a valid option either...
