“The Silver Guardians' 100th game would end in a desperate, and eventually spectacular, effort to halt its current downward spiral. After three consecutive losses (and 3 lost fan factors) the negative downfall was finally stopped, although it was far from easy!

For the second game in a row Damien was suffering from his niggling injury, outnumbering the Guardians 8 to 11 right from the start. Although a failed pick-up from the Chaos team opened an opportunity to steal the ball, the beast came up on top after the mayhem and struggle finally settled down. 1-0 at halftime, because an effort to equalize stranded with a snake.

The equalizer was scored nevertheless in the second half thanks to some great leaping of Aeneas, the promising new team captain who got rewarded with +MA on his first skill roll. Then, with around 4 turns left the beastmen were looking for victory, chosing for the offensive. Double skulls on a treeman block negated a 1d blitz on the ball and suddenly the game seemed over. All Guardians were down on the pitch and the Chaos team was stalling for the win.

But then the reckless elves proved that even in the darkest hour, you should never despair. Aery, the star of the team, moved in with a -2d blitz and even downed a beastman, but more importantly, managed to position herself next to the ballcarrier, hoping that her blodge sidestep diving tackle would work some magic. Aeneas moved in as well to negate as many assists as possible. Robina marked the only tackler of the opposition. Nevertheless it was fairly easy to get 3d on Aery, but this resulted in skull/blockskull/blockskull with a rookie beastman and without any rerolls left it meant a turnover and the end of the game. A hardfought draw indeed, worth a victory to celebrate the 100 games jubilee of the Silver Guardians! Let there be many more to come!
