“Fans paying to watch Blood Bowl got their money's worth today. 9 casualties with one dead as these two rookie teams squared off in the opening round of the WIBBL Wooden Spoon Cup. The Honey's received the opening kick off but were unable to score as the Elves from Bonchurch put up a stiff defense leaving the scored knotted at 0-0 at the half.

The teams came out 8 on 8 to begin the 2nd half. Bonchurch punched through the middle of the Amazon line and ran down the right flank. Despite strong attacks on the ball by the ladies, the Beachcombers scored halfway through the second half.

The ladies from Horringford returned the favor scoring just as regulation ended by slamming through a weakly defended center. Overtime saw only 14 players on the pitch. The Zons blitzed and took a 2 player advantage, caught the ball and were in a position to take the game. Despite stout defense by the Elves, the game went to Ladies as they left the field with a 7-3 player advantage.”
