“CIBBL year 4 summer: SCRIBBL Climax Qualifier II: game three
In the third game of the season the Meddlers faced the short-legged Karak Kadrin Slayers. Later that evening, Timaris Stormwing took some time to look back and reflect on how the game had evolved. As feared, the dwarfs rolled down the field, grinding and hurting elves as they gradually advanced. Nevertheless, the cage wasn't as solid as could have been expected, and by turn 3 the elves managed to leap in and free the ball. Possession changed every turn until turn 6, when the elven lines had been reduced to 6 players. One turn later only 4 elves were still left on the pitch. There wasn't much to do except accepting the 1-0 at halftime, after a pitch invasion had ruined the elves' one-turn opportunity.
An early lightning-bolt from the hired wizard further complicated matters in the second half. The elves had lost the initiative, reducing the Meddlers' offensive drive to reaction rather than action. By then Timaris had lowered his ambitions, a draw would have to suffice for this game. Stalling got a bit risky, so the elves already scored in turn 7. A riot on the next kick-off offered three more turns to the dwarfs to take victory home, but in the end they didn't sufficiently push for it: 1-1 at the end of the game. Not too bad all things considered.”
