#11 Coaran – Pinched Nerve (MNG)
#16 Beldroth Boombark – Dead (RIP)
CIBBL - Y6, Summer-Athel Loren Green Thumb: round 2:

After having trampled the Zenzoat Stranglers in the first round, the Meddlers faced K'r'shh Sl'ppr'ss in the second round of the season. The snakemen with the unpronounceable team name were considered by the elves' coach - the wise and all-knowing Timaris Stormwing - as the most serious contender for the season's title.

Modryn's Midnight Meddlers however, were in great shape and ready for the confrontation. Timaris had asked full commitment from his players and warned them that the winner of this match would probably win the season’s title. "Let's get the game started!", an excited Timaris exclaimed at the end of the team's briefing.

The Meddlers lost the toin coss ans started receiving, but Loec rewarded their last game's outstanding performance with a Blitz! Hauclir opened up a hole and several elves squeezed through, allowing Nimrodel to get under the ball and catch it. "A most excellent start!", a thrilled Timaris told no one in particular. Mereia, the Meddler's assistant coach, had missed the game's opening and only now showed up at the sidelines, a glass of martini in her hand. By then the snakemen had started their first turn. Desperately trying to recover the ball, a double push was rerolled into a double skull, nearly killing the sidewinder in the process. Only the timely intervention of the snakemen's apothecary saved the unlucky player from a brain-spattering career end. "Oops", Mereia said as she was installing herself on the bench, adjusting her shades. "That must have hurt", she continued. Even Timaris was impressed by the opponent's misshap. "Nuffle moves in mysterious way", was the dry reply. Wary of the hired wizard, Timaris urged his team forwards and instructed Nimrodel to score quickly: 0-1 in turn 1. A lightning start indeed.

The second drive started with a snake headbutting Coaran, who had to be carried off the pitch unconsciously. But more importantly, the lonely snake in the badfield didn't know what to do with the ball, tried to handle it using its tail and failed. This allowed Hauclir to rush forward, putting a tackle zone on the ball. A few chaotic turns followed, both teams trying their best to outposition the other and recover the ball. Finavar got hit as well, but the elves' apoth intervened and saved him from early retirement. Meanwhile a snake had somehow managed to get its tail on the ball. Some turns later Hauclir and Morlanna combined to get 2d on the ball. Morlana hit the ballcarrier and recovered the ball all at once! Kurnous was truly with the Meddlers! By turn 6 the score had been doubled to 0-2. Even Mereia, who had been a catcher of the Meddlers only some seasons ago, dropped her aloofness slightly upon witnessing her former team-mate's performance. "They are truly shining today", she allowed. "Gods, I miss those days", she continued. Then she had a nip at her martini and leaned back in her chair to comfortably watch the rest of the spectacle.

Blitz! again at the next kick-off! "Unbelievable", Timaris mumbled. "The gods must be crazy", Mereia offered, before pulling her cap over her face, preparing herself for a nap now that the game had been decided prematurely. On the field the Meddlers continued to push forward, putting heavy pressure on the ball. The snakemen desperately tried to put up some defense, but the lightning-quick elves couldn't be held back: 0-3 by turn 7.

The second half started with the Meddlers receiving. Perfect defense messed up Timaris’ plan for a quick 4th touchdown. Instead, the wood elves kept the ball safely in the backfield. As turns passed by and numbers dwindled on both sides, the snakemen finally launched their much-anticipated fireball. Hauclir got hit and knocked out of the game. Next turn Caelir tried to pass the ball the Aerys, but failed. Blood continued to be spent, leaving only 4 elves and a treeman to oppose 6 snakes and a rotter. In the end the snakes got the upper hand and even killed staunch Beldroth Boombark in turn 16 before running in the final score: 1-3.

At the end of the game, Timaris instructed Mereia to enter the pitch and recover a young twig from Boombark’s corpse. He would work his magic to create a new treeman, stronger than ever before!

Second win for the Meddlers this season. Nuffle was definitely on our side!
