“CIBBL: Year 7 Summer: round 6:

After last game's disaster, interim coach Mereia was determined to show the bloodbowl world that the Meddlers remained a force to be reckoned with. She had made up her mind a couple of days ago. No martinis this night, that would just not do. A clear and focused mind was required here. Turning the cap backwards on her head and slightly adjusting her shades, she installed herself on the Meddlers' bench, ready to give additional directions when needed. This was a focused lady indeed.

In the last game of this season, the Meddlers faced the Rotfall Ironworks Rocketeers, an unorthodox collection of rats equiped with all kinds of tricks and born to create more than a healthy dose of heavoc and mayhem. The Meddlers started the game receiving and managed to kill a rat called Filthtongue in the first turn! Nevertheless, the opposition had hired a wizard in addition to the arsenal of secret weapons they brought to the pitch. The elves positioned themselves carefully to reduce the impact of any impending disaster.

The turns advanced while some bombs were thrown, but without any other result than scourching the pitch. By turn 3 the opposition's wizard targeted Nimrodel with a Zap! spell, but he resisted the skaven magic. Some rats squirmed themselves through the elven screen though. Nimrodel was taken down and the ball was lost to a vile ratman. On the bench, Mereia instinctively was looking for her martini, but then realized she didn't bring her favourite drink. Instead she adjusted her cap, removed her shades and shouted directions to the Meddlers. Her guidance helped the wood elves to regroup. Fortunately they recovered the ball. Syrabeth worked her magic, cut the ball loose and picked it up. The opposing rats tried to stop her but were powerless. Loec granted her his grace and mobility, virtually making her instoppable. Several more bombing attempts were made, but all proved fruitless. Eventually Syrabeth ran in the opening touchdown in turn 8: 1-0. A riot oppened up opportunities for the Rocketeers to equalize, but the score ultimately remained unchanged at halftime.

The second half opened with a Blitz! allowing Keira to push through enemy lines and catch the kick. Nikkon Gluepaw didn't agree though and moved in to liberate the ball and recover it for the Rocketeers. The next few turns the Meddlers used to regroup and bring Ethandril into position. It was an all or nothing move, but Loec was with his wardancers this game. "Do it now!", Mereia urged her team on from the sidelines. Like an acrobat Ethandril leapt into the rats' cage and miracously kicked the ball loose. It even ended up right into the hands of an astonished Kivan, who thanked Nuffle for the precious present and ran off, out of reach of the greedy ratmen paws.

Or at least, that's what he thought. A turn later he got attacked by a chainsaw, but miraculously escpaped. Another turn later he even got surfed into the crowd, ending his game prematurely. Nikkin Gluepaw failed a GFI though, opening opportunities for the Meddlers to recover the recently lost ball. Syrabeth leapt in, but somehow failed to pick up the ball. More rats came to the rescue, but they would came too late as Syrabeth succeeded in her second attempt to recover the ball and scored her second touchdown of the game: 2-0, and only two turns were left. The remaining turns wouldn't change the score anymore, sealing the Meddlers' second win of the season.

Satisfied with her team's performance, Mereia lowered her shades, smiled and disappeared into the night, looking for a well-deserved martini no doubt!
