UI XVII Qualifier: Amber Lantern: final

The Feathers were at their best for this qualifier final. But the Lizards had a wizard.

With two ST4 leapers, no skink carrying the ball was ever safe. In the first half I decided to kick (mostly because of the wizard threat) and harassed the ball endlessly. The 1d blocks worked and we rested with the score still at 0-0.

In the second half disaster struck after the wizard knocked out two ST4 catchers, including the ballcarrier. To make things even worse, the ball landed in the stands and was thrown back by the fans to a bad spot. But then a skink snaked a GFI and suddenly it was 1-0 after all. The remainder of the second half the Feathers tried to block the Lizard's advance and almost succeeded. But then we suffered 4 armor breaks in one turn (including two ko's) and the Lizards equalized in turn 16.

In overtime things looked very dire. We lost the coin toss and kicked. Worse, both leapers remained ko. Although the Lizards wouldn't inflict a single casualty, at some point the ko box was filled with 6 elves. We went all in, put heavy pressure on the ball and eventually got a shot at it. The ball landed even in our hand, much to everyone's surprise. Next turn 5 dice on the ball were not enough. I played my last turn like an infant, much like for the first touchdown, but Nuffle was gentle and offered victory to the High Elves!

Thank you Joost for the game. You played well, but dice were not with you on critical moments.

93 blocks for the lizards, 56 armour rolls. Still outcas'd 1-0....

Tlaxtlan's played their potentially last game in a poor fashion.

Good luck in the next round Bram!
