I scored first in two turns, fairly simple. Two cas on two of his rotters (both regen :-( ) had me thinking I might have a chance after all! A blitz! on my part allowed me to catch the ball on his receive, and advance it almost all the way to paydirt. I'm liking this game better and better! However, some timely POWs by his guys stopped me, and it was a battle back and forth for the ball til time ran out on the half.
Second half, I only had 6 guys still standing by this point vs his 11, and a pitch invasion reduced this to only 3. His blocks/blitzes quickly reduced this number to none, only 4 on the pitch period. What followed then was several turns of him failing to pickup the ball, but he didn't really mind too much, he had me pinned, and the only guy of mine who could possibly do anything, my ogre, kept failing his bonehead roll. Eventually, I decided to be stupid and tried to dodge my agi 3 thrower through multiple tz's to pick up the ball he kept having trouble with...and lo and behold, I did! However, the ball was one square too far for me to gfi this turn, just settle for being nearby in case he fails his pickup yet again.
Of course he doesn't.
Now there's 11 Nurgle's standing between my 3 players and his ballcarrier, soon made 2 by his foul to my ogre. He scores, we line up, I have 3 guys again (one woke up from ko). Line up...blitz! Two more cas get racked up ere it's my turn again. Time to do the only noble thing in the case of a tournament and a game like this: concede, wish my opponent luck, and root for every team he plays against for the rest of his team's existence. :-) Nine cas against, and really shoulda been more, as three times he broke my thrower's armor, yet the ironman handicap kept him alive and merely stunned.
This was a sick game, and the Aztecs are no more. I wonder if I'll ever have the courage to enter another tourney again...”
