In recent years the concept of 'breeding a team' has enjoyed a welcome revival within the world of the Blood Bowl. Aging coaches, desperate to regain some of their former glory, have taken to kidnapping past players and forcing them to breed in the hopes of creating a new generation of star players. Although their maniacal aspirations often lead to an assortment of monstrous cross-species abominations, many coaches have been successful in breeding enough new players to make up entire teams. Many of today's most celebrated players owe their success to selective breeding and a life-time of captive training.

The concept of 'breeding a team' is not a new one. Controlled spawning has always played a large role in Orcish and Goblin society. Although the general trend has always been toward the ultimate Black Orc warrior, the current popularity of the Blood Bowl has seen whole pits dedicated to the breeding of prefect throwers and blitzers. The Amazons also have a long history of selective breeding. Any Blood Bowl star who is lucky enough to be grabbed in an Amazon raid (or pitch invasion) can rest assured that any female progeny they may produce will go on to have an illustrious career in the sport.

Coach Nigglefish, moon-lighting as a Necromancer, has taken a slightly different approach. Rather than breed the next generation of super-star, he has turned his efforts to raising the generation past. Slowly, Nigglefish and his Undead cronies have hunted down, exhumed and resurrected the dead parents, siblings, offspring and child-hood friends of some of the league's most promising players. Unable to contain his evil mirth, Nigglefish had this to say when asked why he had adopted such a bizarre recruitment regime: "Buhahaha! You should see their faces when they have to line up for a scrimmage against their sweet ol' mumsy-wumsy all covered in mold and puss and worms, bones and guts sticking out all over. Even Orcs can't stand that! Hahaha!"

The players of Nigglefish's other teams have expressed disturbance at the recent change in their coach's personality.
