Coach Crook was wandering around Magritta during the Autumn, when he started to feel thirsty and entered the infamous tavern called "The Pig's Burp". He sat at the long bench of a common table, joining a company of several drunk men and interrupting them in the middle of a conversation. To avoid being stabbed in the heart, a very traditional welcome for strangers in Magritta, he bought a round of ale for all the group, and eventually kept ordering drinks for three hours. In the end the man sitting at his right revealed himself as a talent scout and proposed Crook to coach a team in the famous and prestigious College League; the previous coach had abandoned the competition, and his team was now looking for a coach. The team was actually in a bad position in its group and needed someone bold or reckless enough to take over and change the course of this season . All Magritta was hoping for a turnaround in this important league, the expectations were high and the honor of the city was on a stake. Privileges and money would have been awarded to the coach who embraced this hard mission. When Crook asked what would have happened to him in case of failure, the talent scout pretended to have become suddenly deaf and just smiled, showing several golden teeth. Crook decided this was a bad sign, but he needed the glory, and he damn sure needed the money. So he accepted anyway. That is how his career in the College League started. How it will end, only time will tell.


Glory of Magritta was assembled on a rainy day, in two hours, on the docks of the harbor, by an hangover coach. Among the half hundred of rascals, drunkards, assassins, lunatics and convicted prisoners on the run who showed up for the preliminary interview Crook chose the fourteen that resembled more a Blood Bowl player. Then he chose the bull, picking up a sickly and sorry specimen that was just about to be embarked on a ship with the purpose of being slaughtered and served as dinner for the crew. Wasn't it supposed to be a college team? Well this was swiftly arranged by signing all the players (including the bull) to the local university, even if they never attended a single class. All Magritta attended the official presentation of the team in the city's main square, everyone was cheering for the new team and expecting great things from these young, bold heroes. Nobody actually knew them, nobody had seen none of them playing Blood Bowl, but surely they must have been champions, Magritta deserved only the best. During the governor's speech, Crook was strangely silent, and he looked, if anything, more worried than excited. Nobody knew that he was still thinking about the talent scout, and the way his smile had looked vicious when he had asked him about the consequences of a very, very possible failure.


Autumn year 1:
Glory of Magritta played five games in Autumn year one, resulting in two wins, one draw and two losses. Not a bad start all considered, the coach and the players were rewarded by the City Municipality with a precious prize: their own lives. A certain hype grew around the team, which did not suffer major injuries nor deaths and continued to train hard, ready to tackle higher achievements.
