Well I started a new team... Vampires (for the third time). This time I have made them Beedog related and this seems to have helped.
Vampire Beedogs
But the serious point to this blog is that in their first game the Beedogs managed to destroy their opponents to the point that they were retired. 3/1/3 in cas and a 3-0 win was easily realised after the Dark Elves lost 3 players in the first half.
This led to a discussion with my opponent about how much luck is involved in Blood Bowl. He stated it was mainly luck on crucial rolls. I countered that while certainly in a game with no skills at tr100 can be a bit of a lottery, around tr180 luck plays far less of a part as increased rerolls and countering skills come into play.
Certainly dicerapes can and do happen and I can recall just yesterday being intensley frustrated when 2 2dbs vs the ball carrier went double arrows, double skulls on two consecutive turns.
But I think a good coach anticipates things not working out and has reserves and back up plans for the worst happening. A good coach will beat a bad one 98% of the time. Conversly however when two excellent coaches meet each other, their skill cancels each other out and it becomes more about the luck.
Anyway for now I will just be happy that my Vampire Beedogs are lucky.
