My first (sort of) accomplishment on fumbbl
I'm not a well-known member of this site. I've been here since jan 2008, but I've been active mainly since 2009. I don't usually hang around in chat, unless lfg, and I never comment in the forums. I don't really like forums, they're always too big to get a grip on and the threads are always years old with hundreds of comments on each. I don't know how to keep track of things there.

I could go on about how I hated fouling in the beginning, how I got picked in Ranked, how my CR plummeted etc, like other people have done. But you all know that story. I'd like to add, however, that I'm fed up with ranked in general. I'd say the whole picking thing is taking away a lot of fun in the game. Some races never get to play each other, nobody wants to play bashers, elves only play v elves, and all that. So I play in Box these days. And I'm winning a lot more than I ever did in Ranked. And no, I don't just play bashers: I have one Chaos team and one CD, but apart from that, HE, Flings, Vamps and Norse.

I've never really accomplished anything significant on this site. I've never qualified for a major tourney, partly because I hate playing in Ranked, so I never really get around to training a team. Came second in an OCCS tourney once, with my Right Wing Ghosts. My CR is very average (152 something) and my winning rate is low, but increasing (38%). Apart from Box I play quite a lot in League as well.

But recently, I've been winning a lot. That's what this blog is about. Playing mainly Box, but also a few [L] games, I just kept winning. I've had a major losing streak and a normal winning streak (5 games), but never a major winning streak. As I won five, six, seven games I felt I might be able to accomplish that. The only thing I actively did towards the end of the winning streak, to keep it going, was to only play with decent teams. So for example I never activated my one-tree fling team in Box. Note, however, that one of the wins in that 10 series was by them.

Anyway, as it turned out I never got my major winning streak. I had won 9 games, but for the 10th game I activated my HE team that wasn't really that fit for playing after all. It was a close one, but in the end it was a draw (he scored in t16, and no, he wasn't stalling). So I came a few dice rolls away from that winning streak, but failed.

To me, not losing for 10 games is also an incredible accomplishment, but it would have been nice to have that little box on the awards list that says "major winning streak". So that's what this blog is about. Just wanted to tell you all, I didn't succeed.

Over and out :)

Picking is a small problem in Ranked. Not getting games is a bigger one. So many people, such wusses about taking games. I can understand very squishy teams being protective of their players and people not wanting to play down a bunch of TS and/or give up handicaps.

I draw the line when the bashy teams won't even play people, especially the particularly bad-rep teams. If your khemri won't play an even TS chaos team who is willingly giving up a handicap, you've got no business in Ranked. I get sick of having to essentially bribe people to play me, either giving up TS or giving up handicaps to get a game.

Grow a pair people, and take those cherries out of your mouth.

Rant-hijacking rant over.

Grats on your near-award, KJG.

If it put you at ease...
you would not have got the wining streak, as games played in [B] do not count for rewards. Only games plyed in [R] and (now defunct)[F] ever counted.

this may be a good opportunity to campaign for [B] inclusion, though...

Grats on almost not getting the major winning streak because only Ranked wins count towards those awards :)

Seriously, 9 wins in a row is good for any division. It's a nice accomplishment.

So, instead of whining about not getting games in R because people are too picky, create an amazon team and challenge dorfs only. That goes for you too Maysrill.

But 10 winnings in a row.. Now, that's powwa!

Good to hear only R games count for the winning streak. Then it didn't really matter after all :D

And I agree with maysrill that people being too careful about games is more of a problem than picking, although they're interconnected. And if a person would go against this trend they would lose out since everyone else is a picker. I'm kind of against [R]anked as such, but it may suit others better. The problem is that only [R] teams are allowed in major tournies. Why not allow for [B] and [L] teams in tournies as well?

Maysrill - If you have to consistently give other teams slight (or more) advantages then it should actually make you a better player as you learn to maximise your positioning and opportunites etc.
