I think the question is why?

We could have a games limit, a TV limit, no limit.

I think that the site benefits from the buzz of having Majors.
Even if the teams won't be so great. ;)

Why not open up applications for all C teams this November for the fumbbl cup and hit GO? Why be concerned about seasons and tv? We never cared about that before.

Majors are not about the tv of the teams. It is one of the big tournaments that makes this site fun. It just so happens to attract the best coaches to play in it.

If team size isn't a factor, couldn't you play NAF, Minors and be content?

But anyway, whatever the limit is, for me, having to keep rebuilding from 1350 sucks the fun & "incentive to play" out of an open division.

Under 4 years actually and I sure as hell won't be playing there or even creating a team while it has 1350 hanging over it. My favourite team wouldn't even have got 1300. Luckily I was able to get them out.

Under 4 years is still only a fraction of the 17 years that I have been playing here.
I still run leagues and write software when I'm not playing here.

On topic, I still speced Majors matches after I stopped playing in them. So, yes. Personally, I think that Fumbbl is diminished by not having them.

FYI I would love to play more blood bowl but it really isn't possible.

When I do play, I'll be using some (fairly) big teams though. :)

I think as an exception we should do the fumbbl cup with rookie teams. same odds for everyone, no issue with seasons as 16 games will probably be enough, still could be the biggest tournament of the year.

Everyone should name their rookie team after one of their legendary teams for the fluff

only difference from rumbles is that morgflem snotlings have 2 wagons and even some positionals, while griffroot has some skills on the ogres

its been 2.5 years after a rules update and STILL it has not been fully implemented on this site.

Bottom line is the paper rules AS WRITTEN NEED REDRAFTING AND THE SEASONS TO BE FULLY "FAIR AND EQUITABLE" to work. teams no redrafting and getting larger are honestly not supposed to exist according to the rules, the skills and the tv costs were designed with redrafting in mind.

I don't need the entire "re drafting vs non redrafting and big teams tv vs small debate here that's not my point.

My point is that any major ran with the rules how they are now would have a huge *Asterisk beside them meaning it would mean nothing. Bazekstine has been left twiddling his thumbs for the last 2 years and I was a major proponent of Majors its really why I played in the open leagues was to prepare teams for them-

Majors sadly are history. The powers that be are not going to "take the time" to get everything here on fumbl on the same page as in real life and as a fumbl community we have pretty much been forced to just accept whatever Christer wants to do because, well its his site and as he likes to chant "he doesn't get paid to do this" as I look at his patreon page.

Sure, seasons will come. But do Majors need to wait for them?
IMO we're better off with a Major with an asterisk than no Majors.

Whether it is brand new teams, TV capped, game capped, unlimited... Personally, I still think that would be better that no Major at all.
Even if it is all stunties & stars.

It still brings the buzz.

I would be quite satisfied just with the Black Box on (even with BB2016 rules, since implementing Season Re-Draft takes time and programming).
The worst drawback of FUMBBL for me at the moment is waiting for ages on GF just to find a bad match-up.
Majors are nice to watch but with the Season Re-Draft they are not going to be interesting anymore, as far as I can imagine.

I'm forced not to play the teams I would like to play.
If I want to play Orcs, Dwarfs, Chaos Dwarfs, Undead I can't because people don't want to play vs bash teams, this is not freedom of choice.
Therefore I'm forced to play only Elves, I like them, don't get me wrong, even though the BB2020 rules are not agile-friendly, but it's boring to play ONLY agile teams over and over again.
With the Black Box I could activate 1 team per race and have the surprise effect. I didn't know in advance what team I would have used, nor I knew my opponent's race, that was a huge bonus and really fun in itself.
A bad match-up is a match where the odds of winnings are lower than the odds of losing and/or I don't gain CR. I would like to play vs Super Stars and Legends only, if I could, but with GF it's impossible because they don't play vs me unless the match-up clearly favours them.
This is why there should be ONLY the Black Box in a supposed Competitive division. GF should be used only to arrange unranked games.
This is what logic suggests, it's so crystal clear and obvious that I should not even say it.

On the competative front argument. In a pure random environment, bash will reign. Because non bash will die all the time. So all you will end up with is bash v bash. Ranked lets non bash avoid bash and get to a higher TV and thus can compete with bash in a given game.

Take an example of say of 2k tv Woodies v 2k Chaos. Woodies will have a high chance of winning the first game. A rematch, Woodies will have loads of injuries so will likely lose etc etc. Pure random leads to dead teams.

Maybe redraft fixes that a bit, especially with a low TV redraft level

Not necessarily true, because there are journeymen and in a blind MM environment bash teams will play more often vs other bash teams. That means that bash teams will suffer more injuries than now (because with the GF they can avoid the other bashers or at least pick the less unfavourable match-ups). On top of that, Season Re-Draft should remove some skilled bash players.
I played in cpomb-spam Box and funnily was a better environment for Elves than now.
At least after a certain TV Dwarfs and Orcs got less common and you could develop Legend players to deal with the excessive casualties, now Orcs and Dwarfs will always be playing at the same TV as Elves and Elves can't have stat freaks as easily (because MVP is random and SPPs end wasted on Linemen, because farming SPP with passes is harder, because there is the Season Re-Draft).

I mean, ok, BB2020 ruleset is for bash teams (Orcs and Dwarfs, namely).
I can play them, I can adapt, but let me play the bash teams at least.
No, I have to play only Elves (which are weaker than old ruleset, although they are still fun to play) and wait for ages just to find a match-up I play to do something, but not because I'm eager to play it.
If we must play bash teams ok, no problem, just let me activate in the Box the bash teams, so I don't have to waste hours to play 2 games.
GF is not efficient, it's too much time consuming.
A good MM system should aim to efficiency in terms of balanced and different match-ups and time spent to find a game. This is what logic suggest, but I understand that logic is not always the driving force behind choices.
GF is not efficient. GF is not fair. GF means pick or be picked.

Now if we parce this...So...Inless every team is on the same # of seasons, regardless of TV....we will never have a major again. 200 teams apply for the FUMBBL CUP but all of them are all over the board in # of seasons, well no major.

Just base it off TV, allow a redraft at 2000 base tv and now we got something going.

** the shade thrown at Christer from some is unwarranted and quit frankly to me makes me mad. Could Christer and the FUMBBL admin team done a better job, maybe. Iam not one to judge because I live in a glass house.

My position has been stated and on the record. Iam a big time fan and backer of FUMBBL majors and put my own time onto the site to promote them and make them larger than life.

IF it is determined that majors are just glorified rookie rummbles or teams with redraft set at 1000 TV or 1350TV then that is how it is. I just think in the big picture of this site, not just me but a large majority of you coaches should feel sad at the direction.
