None IRC Coaches Rant
how many other people out there are starting to get pissed off at coaches that dont use IRC, It makes no sense at all not to use it to chat and arange games and makes communicating with others other coaches a thousand times easier.
Just had an experiance with a coach where he was one of my opponants in an open tournyment, as he was the only person Online I promply thought well let me chat to him on IRC and see if he wants to play, Now I now that for some reason unknown to me this seems like a stupid idea to some coaches.
Hes not on IRC so I PM him to see if he wants to play, he says sure you host or me, so I send the details and host up the game and sit there promply waiting, about 5 mins go past and I get bored so i look around the site while i wait, what a shock i get when i go to game finder and see the coach i was about to play has just started another game.
now i know it sometimes happens that you get another game and im ok with that, the reason im ranting here is becuase i dont even get so much as an in game now sry PM or any word at all.
I waited about 15 minutes for this game and it pissed me off, if the coach had sent me or a PM it would have been ok or he could do the stupidly obvious thing and get IRC so he can actually talk to the other coach's on FUMMBL and have a converstation instead off just pissing them off.
I know a lot off coachs that wont play someone that dosn't use IRC and im starting to see why, normally it wouldnt bother me, but from now on no IRC no games, I just cant be dealing with these idiot coaches that believe that PM's in FUMMBL is an ok alternative to the vastly superior meathod that is IRC.
so for all those coaches out there that dont use IRC good luck in your future games and I hope you win them all because none off those games will be against me

Yep, i can agree at least for the part bout getting annoyed, while waiting. On the other hand you should keep in mind, that some guys either dont understand IRC ( i had hell of a trouble at the beginning my self) or have quite great problems with their systems to run IRC on them.

It is extremely rude to start another match after you've already agreed to one.
But, please separate this behavior from not having IRC. You can still be rude and not show for a match even if you have IRC.
Some people have their IRC blocked by firewall and can't help it.

Whilst I sympathise and i too would prefer if all coaches had IRC, as stated below there are a number of coaches that have been unable to get it to work.
I have had IRC for more than 2 years now but even after all this time there are bits of the IRC I cant understand.
So in summary yes more coaches should have IRC, but remember to breathe deeply and dont take it as a personal insult :-)

I dont have a blanket ban on IRC users because if everyone had that policy then alot of brand new players wouldnt be able to get games, guidance, or help in general.
However there is a VERY strong correlation between non-IRC users and ridiculously rude coaches. I've had alot of experience of exactly that sort of thing happening, as you say the thing that grates the most is that they dont even send you a message and just leave you hanging. Please PM me the name of the coach so I can add them to my blacklist.
