Im just going to let the cat out of the bag for why I have not been online here, as of late. Guess what? Ive been doing some stand up Comedy. Im having a blast doing it, and Ive gotten laughs every time. I imagine by the time I hit 20 appearances Ill have better control of it. Ive only been onstage 5 times thus far, but all has been positive experiences. I have nothing to show you, because I only recorded my first time up. I was really nervous and really hung over. Although Ive shared it with some people here, I don't think Ill put it out for everyone. Not ready to reveal it yet anyways. Maybe the next time I have a scheduled gig, which is June 3rd.

Here is a little about my experience. Im not nervous about being in front of people.I have never had that problem. Ive always found myself at the forefront of a crowd. What I do get nervous about is my material. A ton of self doubt right before going up. Its really strange for me, to have something like that happen. Two times ago, I tried to script myself, and though I got laughs it was mediocre. Scripting myself didn't feel right, and it wasn't natural. Even with getting A's in my high school drama classes, it isn't something Ive never truly liked. Heck, if it wasn't for hot chicks in that class I never would have taken it!
I think the audience noticed that it wasn't natural for me also. People laughed a lot, so it was bitter sweet. Last time I was up, I just went for it, like I was at a bar in front of friends. It worked much better than it had ever worked. I feel more confident now, knowing that I can just get up and blather through 5 minutes with only remembering the premiss of my material.It hit almost all of the jokes being more relaxed.

At the robust age of 41, I am still learning life lessons. Maybe I was just remembering forgotten ones. Its all very exciting. Ive always wanted to do this since I was young, but an early family changed my own ambitions. The cool part is that Im actually doing it with my 19 year old son. Its funny that he is the reason I didn't pursue it, and the reason I decided to pursue it now. He is doing well in his own right. We go out to open mics together, and each do our own thing. He just won last weeks open Mic, which makes me a proud Dad. Now if he would only get a job or go back to school, Id be a happy Dad. I cant really say No when he asks for $40 to go to an open mic. Kids, what are you going to do?
