I'm a pythrr fan...... but yeah I saw the result come in, went for an inspection as it's a new team and I wasn't surprised to see it had been reported.

It'll be down to the admins..........personally, I would push it upstairs as it's Christer's site.

My stand in this is: "...". I don't really believe in any religion, as I pretty much see them all as outdated. But when we come about hurting other peoples feelings. I don't know. It gets tricky. What can one actually name a team, and who has the right to be offended? Over some makebelieve "god" or "prophet"?

We also make fun og our queen, our prince, our head of state, multidisabled people, fat people, thin people etc. Why should terrorists be sacred to mock?

The team IMO appears to be in pretty bad taste. What else could we expect from Pythrr? Considering that planes are being blown up and people are being murdered I really don't see what is so funny about it.

As much as I oppose and am disgusted by the extremist terrorists I really, really do not like Charlie Hebdo. I would never want to see them murdered. But even so. I really do not like them.

If that image is supposed to be the prophet Mohammed then yes I do have a problem with that. If it is not Mohammed but is intended to be mistaken for him then I have a problem with that too.

Bad taste, methinks. Not because of potentially offended people because of religious reasons (I don't see a religious insult), but because of the victims and their families. Would it be helpful to find this team as your opponent, out of the blue?

It doesn't help that I think the joke is simply not that funny. Not "offensive not funny", but "lame not funny" (obviously this is my opinion. If others thought it was hilarious, so much the better). As Dunenzed said: choosing goblins would have made it a lot funnier.

So, nothing to be gained + potential harm done to people that don't need another blow = bad idea.

Now, I'm not saying it should be banned or anything similar. Just that I don't like it.

For me too many of the player names don't clearly enough signify/mock islamist terrorists and so the team as a whole does not clearly differentiate between muslims and extremists, and I find that offensive. Otherwise, the humour is not to my taste but crack on, I suppose.

I'm on the fence with this one. It reminds me of Chimp Rapiers. The name isn't offensive to me, but the intent is to be borderline, and I can see the problem from others.
I think that even if get approval to use this team, you will have it reported often. You may want to save yourself the headache and move on from it.

On top of it some text written i couldn't read. Perhaps the people who got upset could read it and it said something offensive. I'm pretty sure noone would be judgemental when they only understand half the message. :)

It's been a mess before him. The middle east is basically the collision point of the three continents. Any expanding empire is sooner or later bound to swallow the region.
No matter if Babylonians, Assyrians, Hethites, Phoenicians, Egyptians, Jews(=religious Caanites), Persians, Greeks, Romans. All of them have been clashing there ruthelessly way before.
The area is not only a collision point, it's also open terrain which makes it hard to protect from invasion forces. On top of it's very fertile land (today with oil).

Ideoligically the west can take a bit of the high ground in this situation because:
Jesus approached religion as an idealist.
Mohammed approached religion as a realist.
Both in the context of their time.

To say that all religions are the same in this context is equally as ignorant.

Nobody starts a war when there is nothing to gain. Wars aren't a result of religion, they are a result of being realistic in terms of ressources needed, potential threats, territory. Especially when you live in a hostile region like the middle east.

The christian approach is to say: In Spite of everything christianity teaches, there has to be a realistic expansion to the teachings of jesus in the sense that there is still a justifications for war... if and only if you are fighting for justified reasons (whereas justified/merciful would be from the perspective of a christian of course equivalent to 'fighting for christianity'). But if you do fight a war you still never can be as good of a christian as a pacifist would be.

Mohammeds approach in response to this is to say: You are wrong in the way that you postulate it as a special circumstance, an exception. It's perfectly fine to fight for the right reasons. If you are pushed into a corner you don't have to be ashamed to pick up arms. You are just as good of a person, you can have the very same religious dignity. You do not have to bow your head in shame. Be proud, be honest. And then he continues to explain what is really relevant to be a good person in terms of how people conducted their buisness pre islam and how they should behave instead.

It's getting a bit weird tho when you are not allowed to have a discussion about what behavior exercised by ancient people in an ancient context may be viewed as problematic today without fear of retaliation.
Failure to discuss is also always the biggest source of misconception. To say the least if you don't seek the dialogue you won't really convince anybody.

The behavior of anyone doing realistic policy 600 AD, the way any such person conducts themselves, can't be a good example of how to live our lives today. Not because he was wrong but whatever improvements he suggested we have already made.
Striving for ideals of Jesus Christ however is still possible because it is an ideal and those are not easy to accomplish. We are certainly closer to it today but still miles away from how it could be. - Which by the way not to want to fight wars at all is a christian ideal to begin with.

Then if you continue to look at all the other religions, you'll noticed that they are about very different things sometimes have entirely different concepts.
