Dear Malmir
I like the style of the agony aunt thing and feel strongly that all responses to this post should play on this theme. I too will be dropping from silly hours of work next week to something more reasonable. Would you kindly meet me on the field of battle for a game with chat over discord.
Yours faithfully

Mr Malmir,
I would appreciate some general strategic advice on my offence (1st half) for this game please
https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4125200
and potentially the 1st half (same story) of this*
https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4126730
I have started with elves recently with the plan of trying to run it in and then passing T7/8 if this hasn't worked. What I find though is that I really struggle to make decent progress with the running game, and perhaps I leave this passing thing too late and actually it takes longer to position catchers than I appreciate.
Thanks,
Muff2n
*Your previous game analysis was very comprehensive and I don't mean to ask for the same detail - I am interested on your thoughts for my overall game plan; I sort of imagine a x4 speed overview of the half will suffice!). |

Mellow blitzes kabra 3, hopefully chaining the lino free to tag the ball. If we make that pow he’s in real trouble. Even if we don’t, if the bob follows up the thrower can 2d kabra 6 (no foul appearance please) and the blitzer can tag the ball too/instead. We can easily free up disembowel who can run back and centre to provide general cover. We then have a couple of 1d blocks which as we still have 3 rrs are worth taking.
Your Turn 6
The missed chainblitz meant a max of one guy on the ball instead of possibly two with his support players tagged. |
This is amazing, thank you.
Regarding this bit, I think my plan was that if my chukka could get a pow or a push/pow or a both down on Kabra 6 with his 2d then Mellow would have one GFI for 2d on the ball itself. Do you think was too much of a long shot or maybe too aggressive? He dub-skulled into dub-push, so you were right! |

Dear Purplegoo,
Thank you for your touching letter. I believe a 'wee dram' is considered the correct dosage, though how this converts to an exact measure depends how far north you are. No need to quit your job, yet, though you did show a clear lack of foresight when choosing your career. Instead simply ignore your children and play bloodbowl. This has two benefits. Firstly, you get to play bloodbowl and secondly your children will learn the valuable life skill of how to be bored, preparing them for a career in one of our industries. Should words like 'childline' and 'neglect' get bandied about, just tell them they haven't lived unless they've queued for 14 hours to get tickets to see Middlesbrough v Leicester in the 1997 league cup final.

I know there are far greater issues in the world right now, but I have some significant FOMO. All of this FUMBBL action, and my work seems to insist I stay ‘working’ while the kids apparently want parenting at the same time. How much alcohol can I feed the kids at midday to knock them out before it’s considered child abuse, and is quitting my job right now so I can play more Java BB a masterstroke?
Thanks in advance. |

Actually having gone back and looked, I prefer your play to mine on this one. You were just unlucky with it. We are none of us perfect. Nice one!

How do you mentally reset after a bad beat or unlucky game? |

Sometimes I just get back on the bike, leaning towards a team I am better with in the hope of countering any further bad luck, but more often I take a (very by most people's standards) short break. After even the worst dicing I will usually be over it about half an hour after it ends. Sometimes I leave it overnight, but I never need to leave it longer than that - it is only a game after all. |

Unfortunately, I was queueing for the Middlesbrough tickets.

I sometimes switch to a game which is more skill-based like Chess or Legue of Legends and then just realize I suck too much and go back to play Blood Bowl |
