BWR top10 reached! \o/
Finally, reached Blackbox winrating top10. Achieved at BWR 171.87 after Tarabaralla lost a game dropping just out of the top10.

Reached it playing exclusively my CDs, Nurgle & Chaos pact with their ClawMB & Clawbombs for almost a week in a row.

1 soultoken 176.98 154.93
2 JackDaniels 175.17 163.26
3 shusaku 174.19 145.27
4 rafadavila 173.98 153.59
5 Qaz 173.36 162.41
6 Flix 172.95 149.01
7 CircularLogic 172.76 150.48
8 jimjo 172.59 159.15
9 Hovring 172.02 141.35
10 Carnis 171.87 166.46

I expect to lose that ranking, so saved here for reference ;). 3 of the top10 coaches have not played a single game in FFBox, so being top10 is really being top7 at the moment.

Just out of interest, we've had no word this is working yet, right?

right goo.

Yea BWR seems to still be affected by TS, my feeling is my BWR will go higher when this is fixed though, due to me playing 100 games with nurgle & nurgle teams have really high TS with all that TS improving decay & nurgle's rot.

I should imagine lots of coaches will get a significant bump.

But anyway, it was a side point. If you like numbers, then go you. Enjoyment FTW. :)

Personally, I'd love to see it all done away with...

Along with minimaxing eh purp?

:)

Aw, don't hijack the chap's moment! This might be his first number!

I've never asked for an end to minmaxing, anyway.
Posted by Calcium on 2011-02-27 20:47:26
Can you get any more patronising Purp? I doubt it....

Below OK \o/

I was worried about you for a second. Well, I tell a lie...

Grats, I guess.

The more B turns into a Clawpomb-fest, the less I feel inclined to play it.

/glad Ranked is back. Waiting for WO to drive the interest back up.

Congrats!

I hope to see myself flash there someday!

My Wood elves and Dark elves will kill your stars when we meet!

See you around!

PS. I don't understand all this putting down of ranking numbers. I thought this is the reason they exist?

Why the BBRC thought it necessary to make Nurgle the strongest roster out there while they relegated humans to tier 3 is beyond me.

The primary skills required in Blackbox now seem to be patience, time and to remember to click on the pow dice picture and activate PO, somewhat similar to the situation which has been in place in Ranked Majors for years.

I'm genuinely curious whether future developments will indeed prove that the BBRC has succeeded in making the game even more shallow and one-dimensional. If so, I'll probably have to look for a game with a little more depth than Pokemon Bowl.

Right now, Blood Bowl with developed teams almost would seem to be as dead boring as the Magic-combo-decks back then, when people would play and shuffle against themselves for an hour or so once the combo started (like turn 1-3). I know that Magic-designers in charge considered that cool as well (and wondered why player numbers dropped significantly for constructed formats), but why would anyone want to play a game with almost no interaction at all? Why not play solitaire instead? Launching the combo by turn 3 in Magic is annihilating the opposing team by then in Blood Bowl and play (or wank, as someone else put it so fittingly) with yourself afterwards. DP at least needed an entire half for that, and sometimes even required *gasp* skill (at least if you intended to win, that is).

There is a rest chance that I might be wrong after all, therefore, once I've found the time to develop such a team myself, I'll try to verify whether my worst expectations have been met or if have been exaggerating.

What I am sure of is that the BBRC-members are probably not exactly brilliant, at least as far as game-design is concerned... ^^

@Frankenstein

You know in LRB4 the surest way to achieve it was just to activate Orcs at high TR? That's how I did it and I certainly don't consider that to be any less lame or one-dimensional than getting there with any other bashers.

How about if you develop a skaven team with super gutters and not much else? You'll win a ton of games that way just by playing dead and one turning.

Blood Bowl never has been balanced to the point of excluding cheese, and certainly never will be. Cheese will exist, and whatever rule format we use there will be people who focus entirely on that and nothing else.

By constantly focusing on the negative aspects as you see them, you're only ruining the fun for yourself, not for anybody else. What's the point?
