Holiday Blues
When I was younger, I used to love the holidays and get all kinds of excited the closer Christmas came. I would hear of people not really caring much about Christmas and wonder what was wrong with them. How could they not love it?
Now I am older and more tired. I have lost loved ones. Most of the losses have been due to death many have been due to time and distance and others to loss of love. I see the losses of others and within the last few years, I have seen loved ones start on this road of loss.
This year, I have a lost daughter who was taken from me 20 years ago in my life. She is not close as she was when a child but it makes me smile to know I can talk to her and know whats going on in her life. This makes me a little less blue but it is still a hard time of the year for me.
I dont know why I am rambling lol.
Anyways, here is hoping that the rest of you have a good holiday and enjoy the season.

find something that cheers you up and do it.

it can be anything from playing a fumbbl game to taking a walk.

Just do it, dont sit around, act.

All the best :)

Indeed, focus on the good stuff, accept the bad.

And know that there are those here who love you all the same. We may not know you, or even like you, but we love you all the same.

do what makes you happy - Xmas is just another day.

I'll be getting drunk with good friends and not thinking about my exes and the pain in my life.

Well put. At least now I know why I feel like I do this time of year. I have young kids and can focus on them but also have had a lot of loss in the past, lost both parents to over doses. One 17 years ago, the other a few months ago. What can we do? Stay busy and try to enjoy the time we have. All my "friends" are lame. I spend all my time working and feels like im to busy to appreciate the family I do have. Just know your not alone, I have just learned to accept the new normal.

Freerange has the best words.

I cannot add anything else without repeating all/any of the other comments with the only exception being to express that my thoughts are with you at this time too.

Take care Dalfort.

Know that it's okay to be sad once in a while too...

We live in a dichotomous world. Light and dark, male and female, happy and sad... the list goes on. You need both, though. Always... we need both. Don't feel down about feeling down. It'll come around...

Well, the year is not over yet of course but i am on the home stretch.
If you read above, you will see that I have had issues with the holidays for a good while. This year, i have someone special to spend it with. I only get to see her rarely but she loves me and is a light of hope for me in many ways.
Here is to hoping that she can help me make this season a good one and hopefully snap the grip of holiday depression.
