Your players are there to help you win. If you lose a match because you wanted to protect your players, you're doing it "wrong". A case could be made, if you believe that by protecting your players at the expense of a loss NOW you a going to win more LATER, but if you're not in a league or a tourney, that is unlikely to be the case.

Your right, it was kind of fun to watch my opponent cry when I was able to use skill overcome huge adversity and soundly stomp him into the ground on the scoreboard.

Looking at the replay, I made a mistake. I only beat him by two TD instead of three.

All those players are going to die eventually, but you can keep the win forever.

a player dies? that's ok, it just opens up the roster space for the next guy to become even more awesome :D

Not really a Pyrrhic victory as your next match will still be fairly even as will the one after that etc.
In LRB4 it may have been but not in LRB6.
Winning this battle does NOT mean that you will lose the war.

The legend of a blood bowl player is measured in deeds, not in games. They enter the arena wanting to win, not caring about their own personal safety. They want the glory that victory brings, not the shame of defeat.
Your opponent will be riducled, whilst your players will have songs composed to thier greatness.
This is why they play, this is why they hurt, this is why they live!

If you made mistakes that get your players killed/maimed, you can play the "what if" game about what you could/should have done differently.
Since the goal of BB is to win, I'd say you at least made the right call in that regard. If you want to go watch your replays and figure out what you could have done better to both win and keep players alive (i.e. was man-marking the claw-bomber a good idea, should you have positioned better to avoid a surf, etc.).
In the end though, a win heals all. :)
<cool story bro>My DE drew dwarfs in the box for what seemed the bazillionth time, and proceeded to get their sinister little keisters handed to them. I was getting all pissed, and was considering retiring my loser-elfs. But we elfed it up, scratched out a VERY shorthanded win, and all was better. </csb>
Just win. Let journeymen and inducements fill in the rest.

I am beginning to think there may be something to be said for backing off a bit on the scoring once the game is secured if doing so will save players. Seems a strange idea though.. almost as weird as stalling.

Think about why you keep scoring when you're dominating a game...
Sometimes you're just rubbing your opponent's nose in your success, but usually it's that you're skilling up players; it's planning ahead. If you're up 3-0, you might consider that your long-term future is brighter if those nasty clawbombers in the KO box stay right where they are the rest of the game. Setting up fragile players on the LOS against bashy opponents is always a risk of losing those players.
Also, in a tournament, the lives of your players are more important than the margin of victory, as long as you're secure in the victory first.

Nothing to complain about! Although stupid and needless deaths can hurt your ego (i.e. why didn't I position that guy better, etc) you learn from them and in the end I will gladly and jovially take any kind of beating as long as I win the game. Getting killed AND losing can be hard to swallow though.

Having watched the replay i think you played fine but perhaps a little over-aggressively and had a few lucky breaks as well as some unlucky ones. I would say it was a perfect game where you both got what you wanted, since you seem to be in it for the win and your opponent seems to be more about the hurt (or so I guess from looking at your team and his).
