Treasure in the attic
Was going through my parents' attic the other day and to my surprise came across these three 25 year-old antiques! I've been on FUMBBL for a few years now but holding a few of the old miniatures suddenly reawakened the tabletop game for me... so much so that I quickly ordered in some paints and brushes!

I love the old 80s models, especially those by Jes Goodwin. As well as being well-sculpted they really captured the flavour of Blood Bowl for me - part fantasy of course, but also American Football influenced shoulder pads, helmets, gloves, belts etc., and a touch of the gladiator. For me the Citadel miniatures really lost their way in the mid-90s, most of the players just started to look like Warhammmer Fantasy Battle miniatures with the weapons cut off. Of course several small independent companies have done a great job at reinvigorating the miniatures recently, but I still like some of the old ones. The best for me were Jes Goodwin's skaven, so I've tracked some down on eBay and started to paint a team! First three linerats shown below :)

Yep that's the next target Block! Saw you were running one recently but it was too soon unfortunately. Think I'll go for the Welsh Open in Newport though :)

Quick quick man-thing, paint paint!

I'm guessing you are trying to upload pictures of official GW miniatures. Unfortunately the site is not allowed to hold such pictures.

I thought it was as long as they were personal pictures, not Eavy Metal ones etc. How do other sites get away with it?

Come to the NAF championship in Nottingham!
Posted by harvestmouse on 2014-12-14 18:05:34
Nope, anything official or licensed. This includes cyanide and warhammer online. After the C & C letter, this is what Christer decided. It's up to other sites to decide if/when they get the letter.

Ah, so that's why they've disappeared... Seems a bit harsh for free advertisement of their products!

Thanks for the links guys - yes hope to play some games in Exeter next year! Although I'll be on baby duties in early March, October should be ok :)

Pictures!!
Posted by Mossbeard on 2014-12-14 23:30:47
You gotta be kidding mouse, that is almost as dumb as the special Fumbbl concession rules!
Oh well no pictures here, maybe you can post them over on TFF or something.
Posted by xnoelx on 2014-12-15 00:46:06
You can post the pictures here. You just have to upload them to a different site, then link them here, rather than uploading directly onsite.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2014-12-15 01:08:35
xnoelx: Yes you can. However it has to be a https site, not a http site, which limits the options. The best maybe a facebook group.

Mossbeard: Nothing to do with me, this is what Christer decided. If you wish for GW imagery to be on FUMBBL, and defend against any GW action afterwards, then feel free to contact him, he may reconsider. However if like me, you would rather not take that risk and expenditure.....we don't have an opinion in the matter.

The bottom line is, this is Christer's site and it was he whow got the C & C letter. Being sued for a hobby, really isn't in his best interest, so he's gone out of his way to remove anything close to rubbing the GW legal apartment the wrong way. Nothing dumb about it at all.

Ask where spubbba hosts his images.

Any suggestions for us that loath facebook?
Posted by harvestmouse on 2014-12-15 06:21:49
If you right click on a picture, you can see where it's hosted. I know he tried a couple of places and had problems. So he ended up settling for place already mentioned in the thread.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2014-12-15 06:26:07
Qaz uses dropbox, however spubbbba couldn't get that to work. I wonder if the new cloud storage sites work now?

I joined one of the fringe facebook groups for this reason, however I've never used it in this way.
Posted by xnoelx on 2014-12-15 07:46:37
Yeah, I used dropbox for mine, and it was a hassle. The problem is that when you want to share a picture from there, depending on how you do it, there are at least 4 different possible URLs for the image, but only one will actually allow the picture to be visible to anyone else. Sadly, I forget exactly how I had to do it to get the usable URL. I'm not sure you can get any useful info from https://fumbbl.com/p/blog&c=xnoelx&id=13335 but then what do I know?
Posted by mister__joshua on 2014-12-15 09:52:23
Well according to the_Sage's comment on that thread, you need to put them into your Public folder and then share that link. I wanna see the old ratmen!
Posted by Roland on 2014-12-15 13:35:11
host anywehere else and use https when showing here.
we wants pics!
Posted by DrDeath on 2014-12-19 23:17:08
Ok folks I know you've all been dying to see those lovely antiques and the first new rats so here's a link: http://www.talkfantasyfootball.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=37194&p=720507#p720507

I can see a lot of FUMBBLers are already on Talk Fantasy Football but it looks to be a good place to post miniatures pics - lots of them on there, including the old Citadel ones :) Will keep painting and upload the rest too, need a team for the Welsh Open!
