There are known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns, but nobody will know how low a true picker will go.
Posted by NerdBird on 2016-01-28 21:14:03
I have a list of pickers that grows and grows....that is why I went to BOX
Posted by NerdBird on 2016-01-28 21:19:14
Just about every single Elven team above 2000 TV in ranked is coached by tossers that dont play fair games. And then they get into tourneys and still hug their pixels......
Posted by SpecialOne on 2016-01-28 21:28:49
Ahaha! Same guy that tried to cherriepick one of my teams... I got a good laugh and dismissed the match. :)
Posted by Antithesisoftime on 2016-01-28 21:30:51
Yup, that's a picker.
I know I offered those dark elves a match vs my dorfs where he had 500K tv on me
Posted by ImpactedAnimal on 2016-01-28 22:30:22
Yes Ant Im sure the prospect of your guard tackle block and mb +500k to spend on inducements was a tough call for him in terms of whether it looked like a good one to play ;)
Posted by DrPoods on 2016-01-28 22:38:10
Yeah.

That looks familiar.
Posted by pythrr on 2016-01-28 22:45:04
dude, why does that surprise you

he's been doing that for years
Posted by Arktoris on 2016-01-28 22:55:57
how do you know he didn't have all opponents' teams highlighted, not just your flings?
Posted by asteflix on 2016-01-28 23:31:24
Because he didn't want to fight my Dankest Chaos Kill Team :P

Also *almost* all 2k tv and more are cherrypickers.... 2.4k tv chaos refusing a match against a 1.9k tv chaos .... Shame!
Posted by NerdBird on 2016-01-28 23:42:28
Everyone needs to stop che[R][R]ypicking and play in the [B]ox!
Posted by JellyBelly on 2016-01-29 00:11:57
The thing is, you've either got to deal with cherrypickers in [R]anked or min-maxing powergamers in [B]ox. At least in [R]anked, you can choose fair games yourself and avoid the pickers.
Posted by Uedder on 2016-01-29 00:43:26
Let's not generalise. There are extreme pickers in Ranked, there are min maxers in box.

Eventually you will:
1) Become one of them
2) Sometimes fall in their pit

We all pick and we all minmax to an extent, but most people do it reasonably. Making it for an all-around very fun and good environment in both divisions.
Posted by keggiemckill on 2016-01-29 01:06:04
My Min/ Max'ing is more on the MAXing side of things Uedder.

To clarify.

Box and Ranked both suck.

Stunty is where it's at.

Also the SWL.

To clarify...stunty is really stupid.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2016-01-29 08:17:25
That's a rather nasty and blanket comment; particularly as you've never played a game there. I'll add another one.

Stunty is a division that has been revamped the most, and has had the most man hours from a group of guys giving up their own free time to give coaches some diversity.

My own opinion is that Stunty is the division that suits the CRP ruleset the best.

He didn't say that 'really stupid' was bad. It's not great on trolls though.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2016-01-29 12:23:56
Well if adjectives don't mean what adjectives mean...........could you clarify what you mean by bad? I'll need to know the meaning of bad before I can comprehend what your opinion of his stupid means.

I think I'll go by his statements generally, which tend to be extremely black and white. "It's good if I say it's good, it's bad if I say it's bad."

This blog needs to be part of a regular series. My ogres and gobbos get some "interesting" offers too. 2200k dwarf with me inducing multiple 100k. Yeah, fun.
Posted by NerdBird on 2016-01-29 13:35:06
Everytime I watch stunty the game seems to be a battle of who has anyone left on the pitch. It seems to be relatively devoid of tactics other than kill or be killed. Maybe since it is stunty everyone shouldnt be stunty?
Posted by DustBunny on 2016-01-29 13:39:00
You could not be more wrong.
Yes - major element of removing other players. Figuring out the best way to achieve this is a part of it.

Also, not every player is stunty. Aside from the Big Guys who are (obviously) not stunty, there are also middle-strength players filling out positional roles on some teams.
Posted by koadah on 2016-01-29 14:46:46
@harvestmouse: It seems pretty stupid to me too. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't enjoy it. If I enjoyed it I would consider it 'good'. ;)
Posted by harvestmouse on 2016-01-29 16:09:19
Ahhhhhhh but there's the difference 'to me'.........an opinion. Everyone is entitled to one of those (in our countries anyway).

However to regard something as really stupid categorically with a sweep of a hand is disrespectful to all those who put the effort into making a damn fine gaming environment.
Posted by NerdBird on 2016-01-29 16:25:19
And yes, the really stupid was a poor play at describing the "big guys" that run stunty.

I realize a lot of work was put into stunty and a lot of people enjoy it. I have spectated it many times and they are quick games indeed. But the games are mostly decided (in my experience spectating) by the half when teams are totally wiped out...or not. I get some people love the craziness but it seems to me to be an attempt to make blood bowl bloodier. I just think in that environment a stunty player hitting a stunty player should negate stunty.
Posted by JigerJones on 2016-01-30 07:10:24
From someone who has played a few stunty games, the "old" version of stunty was an attempt to make blood bowl bloodier, which I really enjoyed playing. The current stunty, which I enjoy but perhaps not as much, is actually much less bloody in comparison. Back on topic, I always get a laugh when someone mentions a "fair" game.

Sure he didn't just greenligght everyone?
Posted by Stonetroll on 2016-01-30 14:26:59
Pretty sure we would have noticed if hell had frozen over.
Posted by Nightbird on 2016-01-30 21:07:51
