Entry 2.
My next game was against blocknrolls underworld team. I lost 1:2, but it was the most fun I have ever had playing BB. First time playing against the undies and well… The team was fun, the coach was hilarious and I came to love and adore his Troll Da Biggun, who was a very „special“ little snowflake spending the entirety of the match either pondering the inner most philosophical dilemmas of how to breathe and blink at the same time or gently pushing and shoving my elves just slightly to the side. The game was very even with the ball staying near the midfield for most of the game and the final tie-breaker only came at the very last turn and not without a tricky dodge. All in all it was very even, very fun and exciting game. With a few spps that came with it I finally have three line-elves with block. Still no win, but at least the team is looking a bit more representative.

Then there was a game against nportela’s orcs. He started and although I managed to get the ball loose in his side around turn 2-3, he managed to isolate it and from then on it was a slow and tiresome grind to my line which he only reached at turn 8 with a last second TD. It was my turn and I got three elves into his side rather quickly, but got too excited and risked a bit pulling my ball carrier too far into unprotected territory, soon he was down and the ball loose on the ground. For the next couple of turns we fought over for the position, the war of attrition quickly pilling on as more and more of my elves were ko’d and were constantly being stunned. By turn 10 I had a mere 5 elves against a full team of orcs. 11 turn hit and things got even more interesting as the ball landed into the hands of the troll, who was happily standing near the LoS, the big guy immediately started making his stupidity rolls and ran towards the line. On the 8th turn there were only four swamped elves remaining and nothing but one bad diceroll that kept the orcs from making it 2:0. With my first win or draw still nowhere near in sight and the initial learning enthusiasm diminished completely I decided to call it a day.

Elves are really not the best to start out with. If you love the idea of a quick passing game, try humans. Their skill re-rolls cover a lot of errors, and they are much cheaper to replace! Don't give up, get even! :)

yeah dont give up, maybe try orcs, or amazons or something else and keep the darkies going too. and when ranked moves to the new client (seemingly VERY soon) get some teams in there too, it can be quite a different experience.
keep at it mate :)

Yes, elves are definately not a beginner race, in fact far from it (with maybe the exception of woodelves because of wardancers). Races like Orcs are a lot more forgiving. I think humans are a very good starter race as well, they can bash with the best of them at a low to mid TV and have some speed as well.
