FFB Development Update XIX
The upcoming FFB release (still aiming for end of may) will support rule options that can be configured by League Commissioners.
When creating a tournament you get the following options to choose from on site (thereby deviating from "pure" LRB6 of course):

Those rule options have all been suggested by GalakStarscraper in this thread as changes he would have liked to be tested for LRB7 (which will most likely never come to be).

Otherwise I'm still implementing the wizard and got some very nice graphics from WhatBall for that.
Mercenaries most likely won't make it into the next release, however.

With the help of minenbonnie the upcoming release features 9 terrific new spectator sounds: /aah /boo /cheer /clap /crickets /laugh /ooh /shock and /stomp.
These are all typical crowd sounds (well, with the exception of /crickets of course) and - most importantly - overlay very nicely.

kewl news - but just because i haven't found a plan about it yet: which release do you expect (if at all) the missing skills to be implemented (like hail mary pass and pass block)?
Posted by RC on 2011-05-20 11:59:35
Great stuff!
crickets? :D
Posted by Kalimar on 2011-05-20 12:00:54
Yeah. The sound of crickets in the grass. For those boring plays, you know ;-)

Rating this 6 really isn't enough.

Awesome work guys. We're still expecting wizards in this one right?

You guys are heroes.

pure awesomness!

I think I have heard Crickets at a sporting event before ...

... but I think it was Rugby, which explains a lot.
Posted by DonTomaso on 2011-05-20 12:16:51
Amazing!

Cool options for the rule settings. Flings will rule!
Posted by ultwe on 2011-05-20 12:19:19
I don't like Crickets, oh no...
I love it...

;-)
Posted by koadah on 2011-05-20 12:19:23
@DukeTyrion You mean it wasn't cricket?

First up, hurray, obviously.

Second, great to see some league optionality. I'll never be down on [L] perks.

But I will register that seems an odd collection. I think perhaps Id've rather have seen us announce this might be an option and have a chat in the [L] community about the options that could be possible before going for some. I'm not so sure that picking some options that Galak decided might be a good place to start in the wider ruleset (rather than what FUMBBLers might think up in terms of FUMBBL specific tweaks) are any better than selecting the options any one man could think up. Whist internet democracy is often rubbish, I think there may have been some use here; since these are options, and since we have numerous long running leagues with a wealth of experience of the online league format.

But anyway, w00t.

Jay more stuff to the great client.

Wow amazing work :)
Posted by clarkin on 2011-05-20 13:21:04
Big kudos on your continued effort, well done \o/

However, while the optional L rules tweaks are a cool feature I think it's more important to finish out all the missing CRP skills first (ball & chain, hail mary pass, etc).
Posted by Kalimar on 2011-05-20 13:26:36
@Purplegoo: I'm perfectly confident that once this particular gate has been opened there will be no shortage on requests for optional rules :-) The first set of options was my choice, motivated in no small part by the discussions spawned in my local (german) league.

@Clarkin: I am well aware. In fact Pass Block is worked on as we speak (Christer has added some contibutions of his own for that). There is however no fixed masterplan and I go with what I have the motivation to do in my free time. Quite simply :-) The options have been a "quick win", costing less than a day of effort and showing off yet another thing you can do with FFB.

Fair enough, Kalimar.

I look forward to more discussion and other ideas!

ok, what ungrateful moron did not vote this a 6? really people...
Posted by Markusen on 2011-05-20 14:48:48
Triple thumbs up for these features!

Nice, I think I will join a game just to try the spectator sounds.
Posted by Calthor on 2011-05-20 15:03:32
Wow. Did not expect this. Greatest news in FUMBBL in quite a while! THANK you!

Rated 6^6, and used all 4 accounts to do so. ;)

The league options are amazing! It opens the door for so many great customization options in the future.

Great to see FUMMBL as the future of BB and not the past.

Awesome work Kalimar! Any chance the full Bank rules will be implemented, as an option in the client, in the future for League play???
Posted by Kalimar on 2011-05-21 10:35:19
Banking rules are something for the site, not the client, sorry. As the client doesn't care about gold beyond the buying of inducements. So this question should go to Christer, really...
Posted by Garion on 2011-05-21 12:53:23
Also adjustable SE would be a nice feature as well, so we could make so it doesnt hit till later on but has a sharper increase for example.

But enough about this stuff. I just can't wait for the wizard mercs and missing skills especially the ball and chain and the bomb
Posted by Arktoris on 2011-05-21 17:12:17
amazing news!!!!

thanks for the variety of spectator sounds!!!!!
Posted by Flix on 2011-05-23 12:04:08
i have to agree, that news is a milestone in the world of Fumbbl and Blood Bowl.
