Aimless Sow Herders v.s. Gravel
Got my rematch and it was a great game. Gravel won the coin toss and elected to receive. A bad kick led to a quick set up for Team Gravel. Gonzalez picked up the ball and was off to the races (and his 4th TD in two games!). A last chance blitz did nothing more than push him closer to the endzone. 1-0 Gravel.
On the ensuing kickoff the Herders started to mount an offensive of their own. The ball is taken 3/4 of the length of the field before a costly fumble. Team Gravel pounced on the mistake, and the ball, and Gonzalez was in the end zone in a few short turns. 2-0 Gravel.
The 2nd half started with Aimless kicking off. A quick snap got the team into position to pressure the offense. After a mad scramble, Team Aimless finds themselves in the endzone with a quick score. Gravel 2, Aimless 1.
The ensuing kickoff causes problems for the ratmen as Team Aimless blitzes! One of Gravel's gutter runners are knocked out leaving Gonzalez to tow the load. But the pressure is too much and Aimless marches down with the chance to tie the score. Gonzalez tries to prevent the score but is pushed into the home crowd of Team Aimless were he is battered and beaten into a bloody pulp. Gravel now needs to start training a successor to Gonzalez.
Final score 2-2.
Hats off to JJ Dynamite for taking the loss of Gonzalez in stride. It is sad to see such a promising flame snuffed out so quickly. It also sucks that you cannot use your apothocary on a sideline injury. Boo-urns!
