Last game of the homestand, and today we got Lizardmen, all the way from across the sea.
From someplace called Circle City.
It was very interesting to watch them do a ritual dance, chanting and slapping their tails on the ground.
ThreeKills whispered to me, "Watch for that on the pitch lad. They do that to tackle ye."
And suddenly, it seemed way more threatening then interesting.
So, in short, they played a good game, but they seem to have two types of player: Big, Strong and Slow, or Fast, Small and Weak.
Borl yelled for us to hit the small ones whenever we could, and we did that, clearing a great swath of them. After the match I felt a little bad for them. Where they had arrived at our stadium with six walking, they left with only one able to stand.
And one who was committed to fire in an ancient ritual near the sea.
Hard to explain the mixture of joy at doing so well against a completely unfamiliar opponent, and sadness at seeing fellow players hurt or killed. Killing goblins or orcs is one thing, this is something else.
But, it did mean we went 1/2/0 on our homestand, and that is certainly good news.
ThreeKills hired a Cheerleading Coach, a group of CheerBabes, and told us that the Cheerbabes were strictly off limits to anyone that hadn't knocked someone out, or scored a TD.
That my friends, is motivation.
