Equilibrium at last!!!
Well, it's been a long hard struggle, but I have finally achieved equality in my wins and losses column.
Big deal I hear you cry. Well it has been a very big deal for me as a player.
I joined the site in January 2006. Now back then I thought I was a pretty useful Blood Bowl player. I thought I would be able to win the majority of my games on here and bask in the glory it brought me. I was wrong. Horribly wrong.
I was getting beaten all over the place, and found myself getting irate with opponents when things didn't go my way. Then I would get even angrier at myself for losing my cool over what is just a game, albeit with nice pixels mind. And so I left the site for a while, hopefully to grow up a little, vowing I would return a better player.
In August last year I rejoined this superb community, fresh from a few table top tournaments and eager to see if I had improved. Well it seems I have. Hey it's only taken me 467 games to work out how to play properly, but I've looked at some of the replays of my earlier matches and thought what the hell was I doing? If someone had played like I used to against me in a table top tournament I'd have been rubbing my hands together and slapping my thighs.
And why I felt the need to berate my bad luck back then I don't know. These days I'm not too fussed at all with how things turn out. Well that's a bit of a lie, I still like to win as much as I used to. But I can accept that it doesn't happen all the time and I'm no longer fussed about the players I spend so much time building up when a 2d against block by a goblin kills them.
These days so long as I have a reasonable game I'm happy enough. You're unlikely to find anyone in my blacklist, I think I'm a bit more tolerant now, and you'd have to really go out of your way. I'd hope not to appear in anyone else's lists either, but the internet is a fickle community.
Anyway, back on track. I'm really enjoying the Blood Bowl these days. I've started entering a few tournaments, where I still lose a lot (!), but at least I know what I'm doing (apart from with elves, can't.do.elves).
Here's to trying to chalk up more in the wins column from now on..
