Ranked, and it's coaches - or lack thereof...
So it's been a while since I've been on Fumbbl, and last I remembered (~3 years ago) it was fairly easy to find opponents for ranked, I mean most of the time it was people looking for an easy W, but at least it was something.

I've been chilling in gamefinder and on the IRC chat for about 3 days now, and have ONLY managed to get in one game.

ONE Game.

Now I'm sure that this is probably due to something I'm doing wrong... I mean, I've got a Brand spanking new Skaven team and my coaches rating is pretty bad...

So, what I'm looking for is a bit of advice on finding opponents in R to help get some experience for my skaven and get me more experience with the client and new LRB 6 rules.

Thanks in advance, and It's great to be back.

Probably just time of day. I have no problem ever finding games on R or B.

You even bought almost useless fan factor :O

I play blackbox pretty much exclusively. Even at probably the worst time to find a game, you can usually get one on the first try, and rarely does it take more than 2 or 3 tries. And, I can be doing something else until it is time to activate. Then the system automatically matches me up. No worries about teams cherrypicking or anything else. You play who you get stuck with, and I like it that way.

I would also highly recommend signing up for the 145 League. It is a lot of fun for us coaches who don't have huge coach ratings. You will need a league team to participate in that.

you're obviously doing something wrong, the two RR, four gutter runner, and no rogre skaven build should be pretty easy to get games with. hell you should be able to get easy elf ball games most of the time.

Games are no longer arranged via chat. Try the new gamefinder and you should get plenty of games :)

What time of day do you look? I know I tend to be about 10am UK time which I think is one of the the worse times to look and I can usually get a game via gamefinder.

well you can still arrange games via chat/pm if you like.

I also have the impression ppl are doing not much with the new gf so I had more success with chatting/pming in parallel.

I guess you were around for FUMBBL's peak really. FUMBBL has stiffer competition now, so I doubt we'll reach those heights again very soon.

Also back then you could split FUMBBL into: Ranked, League, Others.

All the others like Faction, Unranked and Academy aren't around now, and didn't generate that much traffic. League has stayed pretty much the same, however ranked is down because:

Now we have Ranked, Blackbox and League. A lot of the ranked traffic has now gone to Blackbox, it's somewhere between equally popular to slightly more popular than ranked, however that may change with the new gamefinder.

05:00 is probably quiet time.

Chat & pre arranged games might help.

Yes join 145 Club. You can the let people know in advance when you are going to be around.

Only [L]eague teams can play in 145 Club events but you can use the club chat/PMs to arrange [R] matches against other members.

I don't know if you are too early for the SWL. Probably worth a look though.

SWL you have to be geographically in eastern(ish) Asia or Oceanic region, so that would be a no.

145 is great. You could also try NWL, which is the American version of SWL.

After around 11pm Eastern the number of coaches severely drops. Box turns into a near wasteland, and R turns into a handful of coaches, some of whom are not activating any rookie teams (or just low TV).

I don't know if that's the time you're on or not, but it is a real dead zone.

I usually only activate 1700+

Hey John.

I play in the mornings to mid day US central time (which seems to be pretty peak time for fumbbl.)

I usually play 3-5 games daily, and have no problems in the black box.

I quit ranked when the box came out, so I don't know how hard or easy it is to get a match.

I also play a lot of league games.

If you're going to be sticking around, you might want to join a good league or two.

For random games, I encourage you to play the Black Box.
