This weekend, I played a milestone game of Bloodbowl. As a stats-geek in training, some time ago I put together a spreadsheet of all my games, since returning to the hobby in late 2009. So I know that my FUMBBL blackbox game on Saturday night, elves against norse, was
my 300th game. It was also my
50th game on FUMBBL, and my
50th game as elves. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite hold onto things to get my 50th draw... as Nuffle punished a few stupid early mistakes with a barrage of crap dice in the second half (and I
lost 4-0).
So overall,
my win percentage is 43% (counting a draw as half a win), which I guess puts me at low tier-1.5 to high tier-2. In coach terms,
I'm a vampire... or possibly slann.
Looking over the different match formats,
my FUMBBL record is worst of all, with a win ratio of 38%. My Cyanide record (both BB1 and BB:LE) is better, at 42%. What is a surprise is that my best record is after 46 NAF tournament games, with a 49% record, played entirely using "lower" tier-1 teams (elf, high elf, and chaos). This gives me hope that maybe I'm not a completely terrible player after all...
Looking into the "tiers" of teams that I play, things get interesting (well, maybe ;-)). After 69 games with "tier 0" teams (which I have defined as Amazon, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Undead, Wood Elf), I have a win record of 38%. Which is, quite frankly, shocking. The rest of tier 1 fare much better, at 50% from 157 games. Coming in slap bang in the middle of the target 45-55% range, the BBRC would be proud. I've managed 47% in 18 games with the 3 expansion teams, and a lower-than-expected 28% from 55 stunty games. So overall, I suck badly with tier 0 and tier 3, but am pretty much on track with everyone else.
The stand-out statistic from all of this is my record
against Dark Elves... in 21 games I have managed a single win (when playing as dark elves!) one draw, and a horrifying 19 defeats.
Lastly, an interesting zombie fact: I have played 2 games where it would have been possible to gain a zombie from the Raise the Dead spell - one with Undead, and one as Necromantic. And I have gained 2 zombies...
A quick note about TVs. None of these games has been played at a particularly high Team Value. I tend not to run teams in leagues for too long, managing a wood elf team for 3 seasons once but usually changing after 1 or 2 seasons. I'm just too easily distracted by other races... my highest TV that I can remember playing is around 1600 with elves, though my BB1 chaos matchmaking team (after 15 games) would have probably been a similar value.
