Experimenting with Ogres
I played an ogre coach about a month back in ranked. He was doing an experiment with only fielding ogres. I believe he got up to about 20 games played before the team fell apart due to injury. So I decided to pick up the mantle and give it a whirl.

I decided to try it out in academy first to see if it was even plausible (or fun). I've played 7 games and have purchased an apotho, an ogre and a reroll. I'm currently 20k away from another ogre to bring the total to 7. I have yet to win a game, big surprise, but did manage to tie twice. Here is the team:

I was wondering if I could get some advice from other ogre coaches on how I should develop the team. Keep in mind that I do not want any goblins so skills like pass would be wasted. Thanks in advance!

I tried this for quite a while in sevens - in fact I've been attempting to bring the team out of sevens play into regular BB. I think the best piece of advice that I can give you concerns your doubles skill rolls. You'll be sorely tempted to take block with every single one of 'em (or at least I was), but I used my first one on Sure Hands (with Smasher - http://www.fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=3556156 - my best player so far) and it has been absolutely worthwhile.

At this point I've used doubles on Sure Hands, Block and Tackle, and been very happy with all three. Sure Hands has definitely helped the most with actually getting the ball in the end zone, though.

Also, I don't know if you experience this phenomenon, but being Boneheaded means that I find my ogres trying desperation passes fairly often. From time to time they even complete them, so don't discount that option!

Maybe I am overlooking something, but why did you buy a reroll for ogres only?

O.k. , O.k. not ever having played Ogres (not even against ogres) I did not know that they are not considered big guys on an ogre team, so forget my last stupid comment :-D

I would wait for an ogre to roll +AG before giving him sure hands. A sure hands ogre is bound to be an spp hog, so I'd wait for the +AG. Otherwise block on doubles first, tackle second.

Thanks for the advice guys.
