Thoughts about E.L.F. in [B]
E.L.F. season XXVIII is over. It was the third E.L.F. season I played and the first one I actually tried to win. I did not win, but I completed the E.L.F. cycle with 2 Blackbox elf teams.

IG Nobles 2010 was a rookie high elf team when the season started and is now TV 1690 (peak TV 1780). I played 22 games (11/6/5) and scored 302 points (10th place). Here are the race I played against:
4 games: Chaos Pact
3 games: Chaos
2 games: Dark Elf, Dwarf, Necromantic, Vampire
1 game: Chaos Dwarf, Human, Khemri, Nurgle, Skaven, Undead, Underworld

With the high elf, I was just trying to complete the cycle. With my dark elf team, Swords and sorcery I was trying to have the best possible score. I played 50 games (24/12/14) and scored 374 points. Surprisingly, the most difficult category was category A. I played against plenty of Chaos Dwarf teams, but no Dwarf and only one game against an orc team (which I lost). This cost me the second place of the tournament (and first place in the Box) since I was never able to improve my score against Orc or Dwarf teams.

In fact, I was mostly playing in a TV range 1600- 2000 TV where there are a lot of clawbomb teams. Half of my games where against Chaos (18) or Chaos Dwarf (7). It was quite painful, but is was mostly boring. It was like playing always the same game: losing players one by one, hoping that my best players do not take a perm injury, and never play with more than 11 players, 2-4 being journneymen. I don't care playing against a chaos team from time to time, but when half of my games are like that... it's just boring.

So that is probably my last E.L.F. season in the Box. As long as the clawbomb combo is not fixed, there will not be enough diversity in the box in a TV range where things becomes interesting for elf teams. Or I'll create a daek elf team that will stay in a sweet spot TV range, but this would also be boring.

EDIT: koadah points that Swords and Sorcery is also the top agile team for the Blackbox sprint, and 14th team (all races). And they are the ones with the most TD scored (39). I also thank him for managing the sprint, and other leagues.

My last words will be to thank Pizzamogul for managing the E.L.F. tournament. I really like the tournament, even if it is not as fun as it sounds in the box.

Gratz. You are King of the Elves! ;)

Well done anyway Sir!

And of course the Box isn't the ideal environment for a tourney that requires you to collect a certain variety of opponents, simply due to the random scheduler.

Actually, I experienced a bit more diversity, but probably because I started a fresh new team, the Tarot Arcana.
I played 25 games:
Category A - 5 games
Category B - 7 games
Category C - 6 games
Category D - 2 games
Category E - 5 games
Where are elves? We are really few to leave the forest and head out into the BOX!
Moreover, I played only 6 matches at TV>=1600, and my only opponents was Chaos, Chaos Dwarves, Chaos Pact and Nurgle...
I feel your pain, but I will try another season!
E.L.F. in the Box FTW!

Actually, for both seasons I have been in ELF, it's always been the category 'C' games I have struggled with.

There seems to be enough Necro teams, but Undead and Khemri seem to be like gold-dust.

And I don't mind playing the ClawMB teams, because I am already AV7 and they don't tend to have much tackle \o/

The whole point of ELF is to encourage people not to pick. I don't see the point of having it in the box. If your elves are in the box, there is no more picking.

Change it up then. You won't have trouble finding Ranked ELF games.

I think maysrill has a point.

Your blog comes across as an anti-ClawMB post and if that's your stance, then why not just move to ranked. At least there you will be able to choose the races you play and filter the skills on the team you are playing against.

Of course I will continue E.L.F. in the ranked division. Even if it is harder to find games :)

I was just thinking about what I did theis seson, and explain why I am bored to play E.L.F. in the box. And in fact, it is possible to play E.L.F. in the box, but for that you must stay below some TV range. Maybe that is what I will do.

Actually, it should be much easier to find games in ranked.

First off, there are more Ranked games being played each day than Blackbox games now.

Secondly, you can choose exactly which race you want to play against, so if you want to play Orcs, pick an Orc team.

It might take you a few extra minutes finding a game, but it will save you the 17 wasted hours of Chaos matches that you didn't want to play.

Good luck with your Ranked ELF team.

Hi Bardazur, I have the opposite feeling regarding E.L.F.
I already left the Ranked division, playing only tournament matches there and this competition is exactly what I need (together whith the Human League and the Clawbomb Hunters, thank you) to keep me hooked to Blackbox.
Good luck in Ranked and, well, one less opponent for the Box E.L.F. trophies! :P

I had good diversity across the categories - but I could not complete the cycle because all 6 games in cat B were chaos. I think the real issue is that in the Box, it should be best 2 from each category - instead of needing 2 different races - because sometimes - and it is random I think, you are just going to miss certain teams even if you play 50 games.

Funny thing - I kept hoping for a chaos pact team to play...and never found one :)
