E.L.F. season XXVIII is over. It was the third E.L.F. season I played and the first one I actually tried to win. I did not win, but I completed the E.L.F. cycle with 2 Blackbox elf teams.
IG Nobles 2010 was a rookie high elf team when the season started and is now TV 1690 (peak TV 1780). I played 22 games (11/6/5) and scored 302 points (10th place). Here are the race I played against:
4 games: Chaos Pact
3 games: Chaos
2 games: Dark Elf, Dwarf, Necromantic, Vampire
1 game: Chaos Dwarf, Human, Khemri, Nurgle, Skaven, Undead, Underworld
With the high elf, I was just trying to complete the cycle. With my dark elf team,
Swords and sorcery I was trying to have the best possible score. I played 50 games (24/12/14) and scored 374 points. Surprisingly, the most difficult category was category A. I played against plenty of Chaos Dwarf teams, but no Dwarf and only one game against an orc team (which I lost). This cost me the second place of the tournament (and first place in the Box) since I was never able to improve my score against Orc or Dwarf teams.
In fact, I was mostly playing in a TV range 1600- 2000 TV where there are a lot of clawbomb teams. Half of my games where against Chaos (18) or Chaos Dwarf (7). It was quite painful, but is was mostly boring. It was like playing always the same game: losing players one by one, hoping that my best players do not take a perm injury, and never play with more than 11 players, 2-4 being journneymen. I don't care playing against a chaos team from time to time, but when half of my games are like that... it's just boring.
So that is probably my last E.L.F. season in the Box. As long as the clawbomb combo is not fixed, there will not be enough diversity in the box in a TV range where things becomes interesting for elf teams. Or I'll create a daek elf team that will stay in a sweet spot TV range, but this would also be boring.
EDIT: koadah points that Swords and Sorcery is also the
top agile team for the Blackbox sprint, and
14th team (all races). And they are the ones with the most TD scored (39). I also thank him for managing the sprint, and other leagues.
My last words will be to thank Pizzamogul for managing the E.L.F. tournament. I really like the tournament, even if it is not as fun as it sounds in the box.
