New Team Troubles!
Well, as a result of a poll I created a Slann and a Dark Elves team for ranked play.

Hasn't started brightly if truth be told!

The Lustrian Springers have already had a fatality and a smashed knee against a Goblin team, and the flings did a number on my Dark Elf team killing one lineman and injuring another! The Karond Kar Desperados had a draw as well but losing players costs us badly with a lino costing a small fortune.

So, a mixed bag! 2 draws from 2, 2 dead players from 2 and I still can't decide which team I prefer. In the end, I guess the Slann appeal a bit more!

Any thoughts? Drop 'em in here!

A few missing linos (3 or less) is no big deal for a team.
Slann are a team I would not recommend to coaches without a lot of experience. Dark elves are an excellent learning team.

So, 2 new teams, 2 first games. 2 Stunty teams faced.

I'm planning on learning boxing. I'm going to start by punching babies and work my way up.

You will lose players, especially to gobbos as they have weapons and foul a lot, as do flings. If you want to learn by playing a range of teams get into 145 club as there is a good turn around of games and other people are learning to. There are some more experienced coaches there too so you can ask as many questions as you like :)

Well, i wonder a bit i must confess.

You had a thread about this in the forums where many people and better coaches than myself have given great and valuable input.

In the end you decided to not even make any of the teams you polled but voted to make a fling team.

I see your ethusiasm and joy for the game, and i do like that, as it is one of the most important things to the coach himself and of course it is important to any community to have dedicated good hearted people.
I even read your fluff and liked it (not much of a fluff guy myself)!

I can see that you are just like me when i started out, young jedi, asking for advices and then dont taking them.

Please just dont overdo it. i can understand beginners asking advice and then dont taking them, i can understand them asking the same question again.
But at some point it is enough and i feel i have commited energy to a senseless case.
For example, people have told you already that slann isnt the most suited beginner team and though i myself might have my doubts (boneheaded-noob-mode kicking in again) i would forget about them myself and just take the advice from a more experienced coach than i am.
Hope you can relate to that.

Rated 2 for stated reasons....well, god crap - 3....because you seem to be a potential valuable member to fumbbl....so kind of a bribe in good bb tradition. ;)

Gl and fun with your fumbbling!

+1 to Purplechest.

careful though playing against stunty. many of those coaches are very experienced with the races and will murder newer/less experienced coach's teams almost regardless of the race they are up against.

Pick fights with humans, other elfs, skaven, most of the undead teams instead. You'll find you learn more and the game is a bit more even on your own side.

Thanks for the input all!

PurpleChest - That is true! One of the vagaries of gamefinder to an extent though! It just happened to be the teams I came up against.

albinv - I perfectly understand where you are coming from. I asked for advice and it may look as though I have gona another way but that was not my intention. I tried some of the suggestions given but I reckon that if I can't get attached to a team I am coaching then I won't enjoy the experience as much. The Flings were the 4th (?) team I started as I was just throwing darts at a list of names (metaphorically) trying to find one that appealed. Also, I have joined 145 Club and will get involved a bit more with that.

Lorebass - Thanks mate. Good advice.

All the much appreciated advice is constantly in the back of my mind.

If there are any other experienced members who feel I have ignored their advice, I apologise and state, again, that was never my intention. Thanks to everyone who has provided me with so much assistance already.

As a relatively young coach myself, I won't give you so much advice.
I think you will enjoy Slanns as much as I do (they're my favorite team) but I fear your Slanns will lose as much as mine.
Once in a few games, your leaping around will allow your team to achieve the unthinkable, and you'll love them. But in most game, they will just die while dodging, leaving just a squishy greenish spot on the field.

All in all, welcome, and enjoy your teams. Keep the Slanns for your non-competitive days, when you won't mind losing a game.
