There is, quite possibly, a difference in cultures here that most Fumbblers don't even realize. Although, in fairness, there are even some Brits who are whiners, and that's really not cricket now is it my dear?

@MattDakka It's one thing to comment on the dice. However, declaring a game lost early really infuriates me, it's really poor sportmanship. In chess when you do that you drop your king and shake hands.

i have whined often i dont mean anything by it just stress and pent up frustration during lockdown , i never say gg early even if its gauranteed because dice are fickle.This is my confession of whining i do try my hardest to control it i really do

i whine and i cry and i curse and i blame the dice. it way healthier for me then to keep everything in side. At the end i always say GG cause that it was. all the rants are never objectedto the coach. Dont like my whining? too bad, dont whine about it!

I've been whiny in the past, I think everyone has at some point, but it's truly obnoxious to sit on the other side of it.

I whine before, during and after matches! in fact I hate and empty chat during matches, like those awful coaches that only say Hi GL HFand GG. Much prefer to trash talk and complain. But I'm Portuguese, so it might be a cultural thing too :)

I vent. I try to make it more entertaining for my opponent by threatening to fire the player, feed him to the troll etc, but some games the frustration just needs to come out.

I do my best to remind myself and others that this is just a game. The replay won't be mentioned on our gravestones and no one will care who had the better dice. Have a laugh about it and move on.

Fully agree with CDassak, Koadah. There's no call for it and if you must say something, the dice reflect your players letting you down and/or the other side kicking ass.

IMO the more experienced or higher ranked a coach is, the less excsue they have. Rookies are advised to rely less on dice rather than blame dice. Every seasoned coach knows hundreds that of dice are rolled, meaning 'unlikely' events happen all the time, and many situations can change at any time. Starting with the complaints a few turns is silly as well as annoying.

To conclude this rant, preemptive whining is particlarly joy killing for me. When opponent gets into complaining in advance about how easily you will capture ball, dodge away, remove players, and how unfair it all is, before you've actually made the moves, it makes it really clear they're not enjoying the game and they don't want you to either.

The big problem with the chat window is that you cannot hear the opponent's tone of voice or see their face or body language. So, you cannot tell the spirit in which their comments are intended.

They may add smilies. If they don't it may look like a bitter rant when they meant it as a friendly comment.

I would personally like to engage in more trash talk, but it could so easily be taken the wrong way.
When I get a whiner I generally just shut up and let them whine, but once in a while it's fun to try and wind them up.

You might have bad luck but is way more probable that you just think you are unlucky. I think that complaining about the dice results not only shows you have no idea of how this game works but also that you are not respecting the skill of your opponent.

The whine is just a badly hurt on their soul, and the luck is spread all around. I only have bad luck when rolling the dice, and when the opponent rolls dice he has luck ;)
