Worst Christmas Party EVER!
SETTING THE SCENE

Last year I was told my job was being outsourced to another country to the newly acquired office there.
I went ahead and gave an awesome training for 6 months and today still help out gladly without complaining, even though they were supposed to have 20 plus years experience and tons of experts.

Before I handed over the job, I had not made a single error in 5 years, had the best work on the market and was better than any of our competitors . 9 months after handing over, the new team made the biggest error in the whole companies history over 1.5 million USD. I helped out understand what they wrong ( was pure stupidity by the new team ) and went over and stayed there for a month helping them out restoring confidence. Upon my return to Lux I was told to keep monitoring and helping them as well as doing my new job . Plus The job I did in Lux with 2 other people ( total 3) is now being done by 8 people in the new country (I am sure that is the savings argument gone)

My new job was something I had never done before or had experience in and I was put into a very dysfunctional team, where my boss told me to use my experience to bring the team together and to give myself credit the team is now functioning better than ever.

Now I never actually saw the incident report which was signed off by my management in Feb for the plus 1.5 million USD claim.

THE SHOCK

Friday the day before the Christmas party I was at my desk working away, when suddenly the head of Risk turned up with his team, asking if I could show him my training plan and how I had trained the new team. They were very impressed by my training plan and training.....then the head of risk shows me the incident report where is says ```the staff from the new office acted in good faith and that the training provided by the lux team was inadequate and we did not have the expertise`` Plus it lied about how the actual incident happened .

Unfortunately I have to sit next to my boss so upon his return from his meeting in the afternoon, I immediately asked for a meeting. He saw I was mad and said I was too fired up and this should wait for Monday.

THE CHRISTMAS PARTY

I was tempted not to go , but I was organising a table, so decided to go.....after many bottles of wine, pints of beer and a few shots...my boss decided it would be a good idea to come within a 5 metre radius of me.....the result me engaging him with a torrent of insults and trying to knock his block off and being escorted out by security.

Monday morning should be very interesting indeed....if things go wrong on a positive note I will have more time to play Fumbbl :D

Best of luck!

Don't know why I'm thinking "Fight Club" here.

It is a shame you cannot CLAWPOMB in the real world ; )

...keepin' up the "shitstorm 2016" trend, uh?
Posted by awambawamb on 2016-12-04 18:44:39
anyway, I'll tell you what happened me some years ago.
Imagine a damn jarhead that become too fat for the helicopter to lift off changing career. magically, from shooting ISIS or dropping teams around in the desert, he moves back to London and become nontheless than a CEO. CEO!!! and of what? Sustainability. WHAT SIR? WAAAAAT? let me get back and check. How much can an ex-helicopterist that now needs three chairs to land his nurgle-like butt (on a reinforced structure), with a previous internet-taken degree in economics, understand of SUSTAINABILITY and ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE? ok, ok: maybe he can witness in first person the terrible effect of dangerous gas emission... when he farts under the sheets. WTF I had to swallow from the gall cup in uni studying stuff about 0-emissions, certifications, iso... and I see this guy talking BS about the job I should do within his team? for half the wage of my previous job inside the SAME COMPANY? Bonkers, mate, BONKERS!

Hope all works out ok, always annoying when companies treat people like this, then you get people who just lie and seem to get away with it constantly. Winds me right up

Haha sounds awesome! Hope you'll update us tomorrow! :DDD

sounds like you're too trusting. Personally I wouldn't train anyone after getting laid off...unless I was being rehired as their supervisor with a hefty salary upgrade.

@awambawamb it seems the world has truly gone to shite, I cannot wait to see what 2017 brings ; )
@Arktoris a lot of lessons have been learnt ( if painfully)
@roante if I survive tomorrow I will give an update : D

Look... don't take this the wrong way... but when you are that enraged about something that you engage him with insults at a frikkin christmas party it is really hard to not agree with the assessment of you being "too fired up". I am not saying rightly so, or wrongly so - but you obviously were.

These things happen, and we don't like it, and it sucks... but as you describe it, this is a big frik-up on your behaviour, and if I were you id try to find a way to aknowledge that, without it influencing your (as you state it) good claim at having been in the right. This should imo be your goal now, and rage is never going to achieve that, no matter how understandable.

Warfare is fought with Deceit. The art of war is getting your opponent to impale himself on his own sword. You can give yourself a promotion, if you make the incident look like it was his own doing.

@Gromilram and Wuhan, I completely agree with both of you. I am not happy with my behaviour and lessons have been learnt. I need to start reading the art of war or taking up meditating. Though I must say this type of behaviour is completely uncharacteristic for me.....but dam at the time it felt good :D.

It felt good. And free alcohol. Worst Xmas party ever? ;)

Screw them.

You were the best in your job. Competitors will fight to hire you.
They're the ones losing something here.
People who are:
1)smart
2)honest
3)committed to their job
4)experienced

are not easy to come by.

Ask for a raise. Demand apologies.

so sad that 99% of the story supports any case you might have except...
that 1% where you drink (too much) on a work related event. Looks like you're still OK though. Back to part 2.
