Blood in my game. For real this time.
In my recent game against a Chaos team, I suffered from more than I bargained for.

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3371288

In the first few turns I could tell my opponent liked to think, he went over time several times during the game. I let him know it was okay and I would let him know if it started to bother me. Normally it doesn't.

But then my cooks son came to my restaurant with a really bad cut on his leg. Suddenly I'm called away to administer first aid with oxygenated water and some bandages. He would need stitches.

I tried to leave my opponent to fight against my guys, but several of my players have side step requiring occasional attention. I left them down on my turns and tried to keep up with just moving about on the field.

His son with some first aid, my cook went to the clinic to get him stitches. All the while I'm running into the house to make moves. Never really able to mount a coherent move. My opponent was good, but not 0-3 good. (No offense.)

I'm still worried about my cook's son. He isn't back yet. Had to turn away a few tables but what can you do when your son is hurt?

So a great game of Blood Bowl was turned into a very odd game and eventually a loss... not that I mind. I just hope the boy is ok.

Hi mate, I was really sorry to hear about the accident - hope the boy is okay.

Hope the boy's ok indeed.
You do know Real Life > BB?
Most opponents can be quite understanding, and the client and site are very accomodating to postponed matches.

He was understanding. No pleasing some people. Of course real life is more important, but I don't get to play often... so every game matters to me. I helped make Blood Bowl what it is today, more than most will ever know. It's almost like a child to me too.

He ended up with 11 stitches (thanks Nuffle) and looked almost happy. Story for the girls now. Bragging rights scar.

All sorted.

That's when you type "RL EMERGENCY - GOTTA RUN SORRY FINISH LATER".

Instead, your "back and forth" was a disservice to the boy, your opponent, and yourself. I mean - was this BB game "as important" as the injury, or just "slightly less important"?

RL happens - don't fight it. Your opponent should understand (certainly more than the boy's father).

The problem, Smeat, was that it was an evolving situation. First someone comes in and says "Cook's son is hurt." Now at this point my game is disrupted but not a "RL EMERGENCY". Then there was a request for first aid, which I had given to people in the past. This seemed like a short thing to do, just go and rinse his wound... not realizing the extent of the injury. The problem increases but with each increase I'm still making moves as I pass my computer.

In any case, stop making such a big deal out of it.

I think the best thing to do in that case would have been to leave the game after telling your opponent about the incident. He could have decided after 15 minutes whether he wanted the game to be rescheduled or not. I'm sure he (and the admins) would have been understanding.

Hope the stitches leave an impressive mark. Legs are the best place for those after the stomach or back, which come out only when you take off your shirt, highlighting your impressive muscles at the same time.

Smeat, you weren't there so maybe you aren't the best person to pass judgement...

The important thing is that the kid is okay. I find it a bit crazy that some people have taken this as an opportunity to try to correct neoliminal's priorities or game etiquet! As far as I was aware he was only gone a couple of times and I can only remember him going over his time limit once! By the sounds of it more was going on behind the scenes than I was aware of, obviously only neoliminal was in a position to judge whether to postpone our game. As it was a couple of failed skink dodges bust the game for his Lizards - it seems that Nuffle was needed elsewhere.
