Emo vs. Maxers
Emo, as you might know or not know, is a term used for a particular branch of music. The child of Gothic Music, or just Goth Music, it was considered even more emotional... hence the term Emo. The kids who listened to the music were generalized as emotionally disturbed and easily frustrated. The term Emo was therefore used pejoratively.
I can't be certain this is the exact root of the term here on FUMBBL, but it seems to be the way that at least one coach uses it.
Maxers are a term for players who attempt to get the maximum out from the minimum effort. Often called Min/Max'ers. There is a long history of gamers who attempt to find the path of least resistance to power in a game.
This is the subject of an upcoming blog entry, but I figure I might as well get the fires burning just by defining the terms. I can tell some of you are just chomping at the bit already. (Rated 1 for no content. Rated 6 for comments. Rated 1 again for mentioning Ratings.)
PS (If you're good I'll rant about why lucky dice are ethically cheating.)

Good summary. I always thought (probably wrongly) Min referred to Min TV. I suppose they require less in-game effort though as they work in the team management.

Mix/Max terminology dates back to earlier gaming where you were given a finite amount of resources/traits/gold and a variety of things to spend on. The goal was to maximize your gains by minimizing spending on things you don't need.
The prototypical argument is the old D&D character creation. Dump all you could into your primary stat(s) and trade away anything else you might be able to bargain away for more of the same. No attempt is made at rounding out a character or providing balance, just going guns'a'blazing at what you're best at (with the goal of being brokenly good at it).

Minmax; not the definition I'd use, or the original meaning of the term, but meh, whatever. Emo? Not a good definition at all. The word has, eventually, come to mean roughly the same as goth, but (like goth), this is a misuse by a wider population years after the original subculture which coined the term had pretty much stopped using it. And the original subcultures had no connection whatsoever. Emo was not 'the child of Gothic music'. Jeebus. This is exactly why middle-aged men shouldn't try to talk about what youngsters are into.

I always thought Emo's evolution went something like this: Rites of Spring (hardcore subculture) -> Sunny Day Real Estate (indie subculture) -> Dashboard Confessional (mainstream) -> whatever it is that people are into these days... Blood on the Dancefloor?

Yeah winter, that's a lot closer. And nowadays the term is very loose, so you could probably throw Death Cab in there if you wanted to, but mostly no.

I do not understand why you even made this. You can find both terms on wikipedia.
But since people seem to like poor made up definitions:
