Played my CowRats in another ranked game.

Went against a Amazon team and had a great game. Well except for 3 really, really dumb moves. But really enjoyed it.
Game started off as normal with a Lineman knocked out and a Gutter runner badly hurt before I even got to move them. I chose to save the Apo for something more serious. But a bad pass by his thrower leaves the ball right in the middle of an open path. I begin to salivate as I build a cage and run over to pick it up.
He then promptly busts my cage and knocks the ball loose.
He grabs the ball but leaves it pretty unprotected. I knock it loose and grab it. He gets a blitz on the gutter runner with the ball but only gets a push back. That is all I need as I dodge a 2nd GR out of 2 players and runs into the end zone. I then run the ball carrier up and a short toss into the end zone gives me a T4 score.
He lines up heavy on his left flank, so I kick it to the right side. Boy I love the kick skill. He promptly Badly hurts a lineman, but again I pass on the Apo, waiting for the SI or RIP. He has his ball in the backfield and I tried an all out blitz, but didn't surround him as well as I should have. And I could have. He just runs sideways out of it and lobs the ball down to his blitzer. Why he didn't pick the catcher I have no idea.
I can tell he wants to stall before he scores, so I run a player down there to force the issue, and knock out a couple of his players. He decides to do an ill advised block and didn't score.
Here I have another braindead moment. Fully intending to blitz the ball carrier with a Runner with block, I end up blitzing in a totally useless part of the field. So I just run my runner to try and block him. But he just blitzes and dodges out and easily scores in Turn 8. Ugghh!!!
So with a Turn 8 left I decide to try the OTS (one turn score). Took me all of the 4 minutes and then a bit more than that. I thought he was going to make it easy on me, but then realized it was turn 8 and built the line across the backfield.
I then set up my players to push from right to left. Of course the ball bounces to the right to make it a difficult throw. It was a bad kick too. Having it go out of bounds would have been a blessing from Nuffle. But Nuffle is a fickle god I soon found out.
I get quicksnap and it helps me set things up even easier and can do it in one less block. The blocking actually works and my Gutter runner pops out the other side of the line. I wasn't actually able to knock down any of the Amazons, so I have to make a risky throw.
The throw is accurate and he fails his interception attempt. But my runner drops the ball. Luckily I have 1 re-roll left and take it. Was hoping to save that for a 2nd dodge re-roll or a GFI re-roll, but if I don't catch it it doesn't matter.
So down the sideline he sprints, dodges into the first spot next to his blitzer, then tries the 2nd one. Needs a 3+ and get double 1's and fall down 1 square shot. Ugghh!! Nufffle!!!
Anyway so we start the 2nd half. I set up for a nice push on the left side and the ball again goes well to the right. I push forward with everyone but forgot the golden rule, protect the ball before picking it up. Sure enough the Gutter runner needing a 2+ drops the ball.
He builds a cage and picks up the ball. I block up the cage but can't get through. He blocks a hole and tries to sprint it down the sideline. Not that smart as my 3 gutter runners catch him from behind. Can't knock him down but pin him on the sideline. And then knock the ball out next turn. I grab it, throw it upfield to a linerat who runs for the endzone. He can make it with a GFI, of course Nuffle says I don't think so and I fumble it at the goal line.
Lucky for me he can't catch me and my lineman picks himself up, picks up the ball and scurries in with very little celebration for a turn 5 2-1 lead. I'm feeling excellent about my chances. Just don't let up.
A fantastic end zone kick off has him scurrying back. His thrower cannot even pick it up on turn 5. I get 2 linemen on his catcher and run gutter runners back to interfere with the ball.
He does some great blocking and frees up his catcher. His thrower grabs the ball and tries the long pass to the LOS. But again Nuffle laughs and double 1's later he drops the ball. I know I have the win. There is no way I can lose at this point. Just don't screw it up Ben.
So Instead of being aggressive and blitzing the thrower, I don't do a GFI with a linemen since I was out of re-rolls. So I put a GR on the ball. Then run another over to pick it up. Then a simple dodge into the endzone will guarantee me the win. Nuffle again laughs as I roll the 1 to pick it up and it scoots into the endzone.
He blocks my GR out of the way. Grabs the ball, makes a long pass to a lineman who is tied up in the scrum and touching one of my guys. He makes the catch, dodges out and runs over to hand it off to the catcher who runs around the left flank.
I need to get some players in front of him to slow him down. Just 1 turn is all I need to do. If I can push the blitzer guard out of the way I can get 2-3 players on the ball carrier. But even with the re-roll I can't get a push. skull + skull/pow on both the roll and the re-roll. So we just stand there and I can't get to the catcher without some serious dodging.
Then I make a lame move and leave a simple blitz block path for him to jog in. He did have a GFI roll but made it. Nuffle is surely laughing his a$$ off at this point.
So in the end, a 2-2 tie and great game. Still making some silly mistakes, but have to be pleased with how the team is performing overall.
I did get an RIP in there and used the Apothecary to save him, so not using him on turn 1 was probably a good move. I ended up with no serious injuries and no new skills, but I did get back a lost FF and a 70K purse.
