To Bloat or not To Bloat? That is the question.
After a fun & challenging match against MrOdd's Khemri team Dope Feinds, I find myself in a tricky situation of a humble lineork being the most skilled player on my team . . . Added to that, on his second level up he has just rolled Dub 6's.

+Str is tempting on almost any player, but there is also the options of Dodge, Guard, Leader & a couple more 'fun' options. But they all cost a lot of TV :(

Any ideas?

Also, first time using bbcode . . . the fact that one link actually works is a miracle.
This is the player in question https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=9461715

Take the +ST. Stop worrying about TV.

Bloat it up! 5 ST4 players and one ST5... that's no joke.

+St it is. :)
Viva la bloat
Posted by koadah on 2013-07-24 22:42:00
How do you define bloat? Do you think you'll rarely use the ST4?
Posted by FredAstaire on 2013-07-24 22:46:47
@koadah Oh, I'll use it if I have it. It's just I use my lineorks for fouls/assists/screens more than anything else so it's just slightly weird from normal for me.
My other ork team has 2 ST4 Blitzers & that is incredibly useful. I just had a few doubts that my lineork would have equal potential :)

Not as good as a +ST blitzer for sure. But better than a standard BO for only an extra 20k. And none of your BOs even have block yet.

Yeah, thinking it as a MV5 BO with block does make it seem even more appealing than a buff lineman. Not that buff linemen are bad (if you know what i mean, eh ehehe)

I love +st for orks more than is socially acceptable. Do it.

Bloat is only what happens when the marginal utility of something out weighs its cost, +strength is rarely this. On bashy teams it provides weight to any defensive or offensive line breaking. On elves it can provide some serious blitzers or hole punchers.

That's not an orc - that's a chaos warrior!

Orcs.
Are.
Bad.
Posted by ahalfling on 2013-07-25 02:52:53
Orc linemen are bad, yes. Goblins provide the team with a little more mobility and the option of dodging (also TTM, which is... a desperate measure, but if it's T8, who knows?) The lineman doesn't do anything as well as your blitzers or black orcs, and doesn't do anything different from them either. Of course, the one problem with goblins is durability... but I haven't seen a lot of orc teams that lacked replacement money.

None of this, of course, applies to the ST4 lineman, who's a great player to have.

in Ranked, there is no such thing as bloat except punched up players

Sad that a team 6 games into its career is worried about bloat at 1300k TV and considered knocking back a +ST.

Where is this game going when stupid ideas like this are discussed. TAKE THE +ST!

You do know you can edit your blog later, for instance to make that link work after all?

it should read [url=https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=9461715]lineork[/url].

Oh and YES! Take it! When starting with ST 3/4, I think the second +ST might be worth its TV even more than the first. I've had 2 ST5 lineelves, and loved it.

This player turns your team into one with (more than) the strength of sauri, without the weak spots skink armor makes. Epic stuff!

Also, how can you worry about bloat on a team called fat, hungry orcs? That's just not fluffy, Fluffy.
