Cup Madness
Upon hearing the attempt to make this year's Fumbbl cup a 256 team KO tourney, I thought "They're insane. It'll never work!"

Then it got bumped up to 512 due to overwhelming response. I thought "Wow. This looks like it's going to be even worse, and take forever to get sorted out."

Now, it's just a few days out from the deadline. Last report I heard said 480+ teams have applied. Not only does it look like it could be done, but I've turned around a bit. I might even join. Not with my Highest TR team. Not with my Highest TS team. Not with my team that I think has the best chance of winning. I'm looking at entering with my team that I think I'll have the most fun with.

Angie said in the chat that the lowest TR team currently in was only 91 TR. This could wind up being one of the coolest tournements we have. 512 coaches each putting up a team. Granted first round loses half of those, but all particpating coaches will be able to say "I played in the 2007 Fumbbl Cup. The Major of Majors." It'll be a wild first round, I'm predicting massive handicaps, great fun, and hopefully, an upset or two.

In part, I want to see this because of the hope that it spreads anti-cherry picking love. Let people see that it's about the game, not about obsessing about who you're playing, and how the teams compare. 4 or 5 handicaps can twist a game up and challenge you in new ways. Relax, have some fun, and look back and say " That was a historic tournement, and I was there."
